I'm thinking of getting one of these so help me make the decision. Which is better and why? But I gotta tell ya, it's going to be tough to beat the $100 break in price by going with the Dell.

cool people go iPod. it's also got all sorts of hacks and add on appls that the Dell does not. better form factor, more stylish.

Not sure why this is on the depot -- dude's not trying to buy or sell something on the site...

Anyway, ipod. The reason is itunes, not the store, but the file management, ripping and burning software. It's a beautiful interface, and the ipod fits in seamlessly.

Matt,

The depot has nothing to do with buying or selling, that's swap meet.

If you are just ripping your own music (and therefore have no interest in itunes) there is no reason to buy an ipod unless you just want to piss away an extra benjy. Not sure if it would make any sense even if you do want to use itunes, but I'll admit to not knowing.

I've been very happy with my Zen Nomad.

I agree the best thing about the Ipod is Itunes. The Ipod is really easy to use, intuitive, etc. The battery life, in my observation, sucks. I am lucky to get 6 hours off a full charge. From what I can tell, this appears to be a pervasive problem.

But Itunes really is a great program.

IPod v4 gets about 12 hours of battery. itunes is sweet and you can't beat the iPod for style points and form factor

if you go over to slickdeals.net, they have a deal going on the dell, the 15 gig version for $129 or the 20 gig for $179. i love my ipod, it's a 4th generation, and gets about 12 hours out of a charge, however, for $129, i would have gone for the dell.
