IOC dropping wrestling

I have to admit that I'm not a big fan of wrestling, but it has been a historic part of the Olympics with some great stories over the decades. I can't believe they are planning to replace it with the likes of squash, or wakeboarding, or sport climbing - whatever the hell that is.

This was definitely one that should not have been dropped. It was in the original and modern olympics. IOC is getting strange.

I have to agree this is a head scratcher. Wrestling is one of the orignial sports of the Olympics. This has to be a punch to the gut for HS and Collegiate wrestlers who dreamed of Gold and participating in the Olympic Games.

Don't they have one more chance? They are going to allow one of baseball/softball, wrestling and some others.....wrestling has one more chance I believe.

I know it is traditional, but I would rather watch softball or baseball in the Olympics...but that is just my opinion.

And yet we have that silly ribbon-twirling and ball balancing version of gymnastics. Makes no sense. And then there's synchronized swimming, which reminds me of the old "Confucius say' shtick about women who fly airplanes upside down having a crackup.

Hey, synchro swimming is a really tough sport. I know because I dedicated a good portion of my athletic life to it. I excelled in Individual Synchronized Swimming, I'll have you know.
