Internet Browser Issue

Hey guys, I've recently been having a problem on my home desktop. It will no longer open pages that have any security functionality. I cannot log into my email, facebook, Turbotax, etc. It also will not let me download most things. I get an error message on Firefox that says "Failed to Connect" and a similar IE error message. I've tried to shut down all of my firewalls, or at least the ones I know of, and it hasn't worked.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Since it's on both IE and Firefox, I assume deleting Firefox and downloading it again won't work?

Are you sure your internet connection to your desktop is working?

Do you have a firewall? or a new spyware app? sometimes they can cause stuff like that,.

It turns out I just needed to download IE8. I have no idea why IE7 was causing Firefox to not work correctly, but it's fixed now.
