International carbon markets may suffer#8230;..

So despite what some on this board have told us about the overall health of carbon trading markets (even after the collapse of the Chicago Carbon Exchange) the Guardian is suggesting we may see a complete collapse of the International carbon markets:

World Bank failing carbon markets...

Carbon markets are redundant, impractical and inefficient. We already have taxes and tax credits some of which go as foreign aid to poor countries and the development of solar, geothermal and nuclear.

what do you guys think about this? it seems that international carbon trading is in HUGE trouble! I am actually very very glad. Even if I thought CO2 was a pollutant, which I don't, this seems like a very easy industry to manipulate and ultimately scam.

One of the dumbest ideas I've ever heard on an international scales. Glad it is dying.

Where are the posters who vociferously defended this? I remember one poster saying that the carbon markets were healthy and not struggling. What do these posters say now? Still think carbon trading has a future?

those markets were created to make some very dubious characters and organizations rich at the expense of the middle class. good riddance.

Yeah....just amuses me how quiet it is about this on these boards. When the Chicago Carbon Exchange closed I pointed it out and was met with ridicule at the very suggestion that carbon trading was in any trouble. McBrett pointed me to an advertisement by a major broker as evidence that all was fine. I am curious what he, or others who agreed with him, think now.

If I read the article correctly that means that I now have to worry about a possible 2° temperature change in coming years due to countries not buying into limiting carbon dioxide amounts?

Dear God, where is the closest cliff. I promise to hold my breath on the way down so no further emissions of CO2 enter the atmosphere.
