Interesting New Tiger Ad by Nike

Like father, like son

Seems like Tiger should have asked his Dad what he's learned.

"Dad, what's it like on the other side? Are there skanks?"

Exploiting your dead father to save your public image from a sex scandal. Now that's class.

Decent.

People who assassinate character simply because a guy was flawed in one area of his life are insanely hypocritical. The poster who called Earl Woods a "scumbag," just pray your personal life is never the subject of a full expose...

I didn't have a thing to say about Tiger's affairs until this commercial. That's him and Nike choosing to put it out there as a marketing ploy. I don't have much respect for that.

I don't think the public has a right to see into the private lives of the famous and I despise that "news" organizations can't restrain themselves from diving into a story like this. Choosing to participate in a commercial activity like this changes things.

Horrible ad. I actually thought Tiger might have something to say on it. I mean, you haven't done many interviews or talked about all of the crap that has gone on over the last 4 months up to this point. Then you have a commercial where you take the words of your deceased father and play them out of context in order to do the talking for you. Pathetic.

RV, I'm pretty much with you on this. It is one thing to have personal indiscretions, it is quite another to utilize the words of your dead father to contextualize those indiscretions in a sponsored advertisement. I think it is pretty disgusting, actually.

I think RV is indicating a distaste for gossip stories. That there is traffic in such things is not disputed, nor is their "right" to do so... but frankly I find these people to be far more distasteful than that which they report on, and by pandering to the dreck they lower the level of discourse for us all. Which is to say, that Tiget Woods knew the potential consequences for his indiscretions being discovered, is not license for the rest of us to feed off it like the vultures that we clearly are. I know who Tiger Woods is, not because of his claims to modesty, but because of his skills as a golfer. As such, I have no interest in participating in the spectacle that occurs in the gossip rags.

That said, if he seeks to profit on his indiscretions (and the voice of his dead father) by talking about them in a shoe commercial, then I have absolutely no sympathy for him.
