Interesting Article on KSU Loss

He missed the other reason depth can be important, and that's if you run the other team out of the gym. I know it has a lot to do with the other team playing a sagging zone, but UT is walking the ball up the court and not pressing much at all. If you're going to play 10 guys you need to force the tempo enough to make the 10 guys important.

You need to make those easy shots, free throws and get rebounds. I think we looked tired the last two games

Things to note in response:

Texas has been playing James and Bradley each more than 32 minutes in conference games.

The Final Four team had 9 guys in double figures in minutes and Ross with 9.9 a game.

A team misses about 25 layups and misses 13 free throws while shooting 42% from the line, and he wants us to believe the loss is due to rotations?

Some real counterintuitive stuff going on here:

The team is gassed yet the complaint is we have too large a rotation.

We are sloppy yet can't blame it on players being taken in and out of the game, implying they do not have a chance to get into rhythm or a mental zone.

Hopefully what is happening is that Barnes is trying to accelerate the development of our young players by driving them hard in practice. In theory, this will require some hiccups along the way and some backing off to acknowledge the workload. Then, we will peak again come tournament time.

Sounds easy in theory.... but hard in reality....

I have always felt Barnes intentionally ran boot camp practices during the first half of the season and then tapered starting in about Feb.

His records in Feb and March might bear that out. Will leave that to others.

RB understands this is a team that has a goal of doing serious damage in the NCAA tourney and everything else is trivia.

Would love to hear about that from someone who actually knows but I would look for a fresher team sometime in mid Feb.
