Insurance Inspection-What to expect

I've been informed from the landlord that my residence will be subject to inspection. It has to do with a policy change, due to re-alignment of the Insurance carrier (best guess here).

Anyone gone thru this?
What would an Insurance rep. be looking for?

I definitely don't want to screw the pooch. But what comes to mind are such things as -

- Safety concerns (storing flammables in the hot water closet)
- Code violations (spitballing here).
- General condition / maintenance.

I can't imagine a white glove treatment. If so, then I have till Fri. to get a rent-a-maid. The place isn't trashed anyway.

Not sure it's the same situation... I switched insurance providers a few months back. A rep from the new company came and did the inspection while I was gone- it was exterior only. I'm guessing they were looking to make sure the roof was in one piece, no exterior damage, and that the exterior composition matched the description I'd given. I thought it was more just to make sure that I didn't get the new policy, then file a claim for pre-existing damage or misrepresent my info on the application.

If there are any overhanging tree limbs that could be a hazzard to the roof they will make the owner cut them and make it proper. They will find or try to find things that could be a problem and have him take care of them before their coverage would begin.

Regarding things you do inside, that won't really be looked at unless he said it would. I would assume you are okay as is. Just put new batteries in the smoke detectors, maybe get a fire extinguisher (should already have one) and things like that. Basically things you should be doing already.

Make a bundt cake for the inspector.
