Installing outdoor speakers

I am considering putting some outdoor speakers on my back patio. My indoor stereo system sits adjacent to the wall of my patio. I was thinking of drilling through the brick wall and putting a speaker connector plate (if that is the proper terminology) on both sides so I can run the wires from the receiver to the plate inside and from the plate outside up to the speakers mounted on the patio. Will that mean putting a box on both sides? I have no experience with any of this. Any suggestions? Is drilling through the wall and brick a bad idea? If so, how else would I do it? Thanks in advance for any help.

You might be a lot happier in the long run if you mounted the speakers in your eaves and didn't try to drill thru your brick. If you could run the wire thru the attic, you would have to disturb the brick.

You can also get the external/wall mount boxes and just put the speaker connections in that box and screw it to the wall.

I also STRONGLY suggest putting another box next to it for volume control. Niles sells a great outdoor kit that is easy to install and is a must for speakers on the patio.
