Hey folks. We just released our initial 2011 Texas Top 100. Our recruiting analyst Jeff Howe has been on the road all fall, catching multiple high school games each weekend, scouting in person the game performance of many of the 2011 prospects you'll find on the top 100 list. That's on top of all of the camp, combine, practice and 7-on-7 scouting he did earlier this year. Here's the list:

Enjoy! And feel free to share the link anywhere else that you think folks may be interested.

Thank you Clendon!

Chris Barnett (brother is redshirting cornerback) and QUandre Diggs (QUentin Jammer's brother) will probably be recruited by Texas. I 've read that Desmond Jackson spent part of his childhood growing up in Austin and that Texas is in real good shape.

Having watched Whitehouse play us the last couple of years I am surprised that Trey Metoyer is the highest rated WR.

I saw Metoyer play against Celina the last two years, and I saw him play on film. I also got to see the Daingerfield play twice, with Celina losing both times.

Check out the stats that Metoyer had against Celina, I think it was less than 10 yards receiving on 4 catches.

The Daingerfield receivers were better, but it was a hard night to judge because of the wet weather. Chris Jones didn't catch a ball, and the big tall receiver in this year's class didn't fare much better. And these were some small, slow kids playing defense against them.

Marquis Jackson was a different story. Best receiver I saw all year (granted this was a lot of games in the 3A and below division).

I'd settle for 10 players better than Williams. You can tell from the tape alone that the kid is a monster and a freak of nature. I would have zero problem with us taking him, Brown, Green, and Sims. Green is supposed to be a NU lean at this point, but no reason to give up yet, the kid is insanely talented. Reminds me of Joe McKnight.

Any guess as to which positions the Horns will try to load up on in 2011? Everyone will try to grab RBs but what else is strong and what else does Texas need?

Offensive line, offensive line, offensive line, offensive line and offensive line.

After offensive line, linebacker and running back. Might need to look at a kicker/punter too.

Did I mention offensive line?

Is OL more because of their play this year, depth, or the guys available?

I think LBer is key as well with depth (although the current group with Hicks maybe added seems really good).

Hopefully there is another stud DB ready behind the Browns, Williams and Thomas.

Anyone have an idea which back the coaches prefer. You won't get all 3 top ones and maybe only 1. The precedent has been for a bigger back the last 2 years (Whaley and Shead). Mack likes coaches sons so maybe Walsh at QB?

What is the point of having lists before guys even start their senior years. It used to be you would get lists in the summer before their senior years and much of this was based on how well these guys not only did their junior seasons but how well they did in the camps and how many offers they had gotten.

Probably due mostly to modern technology Hornpharmd. There is now more current, accurate and faster information received. Clendon and the rest of the staff get after this information and we are fortunate indeed that he shares some of it with us. I just wish I could have the money to be able to subscribe because I really enjoyed his magazine when it used to be on sale at the HEBs.

Look at the initial 2010 list and at the current 2010 list and see how comparable they are to each other. If there are a lot of similarities then it doesn't hurt to have an early list. If there have been enormous changes then don't put much stock in them.

TEXAS will only have nine OL on scholarship after next year. That is why Brown needs to take four or five OL next year. Hell I think TEXAS should take two more this year for that matter.

2011
73 Garrett Porter 6' 6" 305 So.-1L OT Odessa, Texas (Permian)
67 Mason Walters 6' 6" 300 So.-1L OG Wolfforth, Texas (Frenship)
78 David Snow 6' 4" 300 Sr.-3L C/OG Gilmer, Texas (Gilmer)
54 Mark Buchanan 6' 6" 310 Jr.-2L OG Austin, Texas (Austin)
77 Luke Poehlmann 6' 7" 265 Jr.-2L OT/G Brenham, Texas (Brenham)

70 Paden Kelley 6' 7" 270 So.-1L OT/G Austin, Texas (Lake Travis)
79 Thomas Ashcraft 6' 5" 315 So.-1L OG Cedar Hill, Texas (Cedar Hill)
Dominic Espinosa 6' 3" 282 Fr.-RS OL Cedar Park, Texas (Cedar Park)
Trey Hopkins 6' 4" 260 Fr.-RS OL Galena Park, Texas (North Shore)

2010 should be all right based on numbers but you know the problems OL had this year.

2010
64 Kyle Hix 6' 7.5" 320 Sr.-3L OT Aledo, Texas (Aledo)
63 Michael Huey 6' 5" 320 Sr.-3L OG Kilgore, Texas (Kilgore)
78 David Snow 6' 4" 300 Jr.-2L C/OG Gilmer, Texas (Gilmer)
56 Tray Allen 6' 5" 315 Sr.-3L OT/G Grand Prairie, Texas (South Grand Prairie)
77 Luke Poehlmann 6' 7" 265 So.-1L OT/G Brenham, Texas (Brenham)

72 Britt Mitchell 6' 5" 310 Sr.-3L OT Kilgore, Texas (Kilgore)
54 Mark Buchanan 6' 6" 310 So.-1L OG Austin, Texas (Austin)
68 Drew Oldis 6' 4" 290 Sr.-SQ* C/OG Boerne, Texas (Boerne)
75 Steve Moore 6' 4" 295 Sr.-2L OG Houston, Texas (Jersey Village)
73 Garrett Porter 6' 6" 305 Fr.-RS OT Odessa, Texas (Permian)

70 Paden Kelley 6' 7" 270 Fr.-RS OT/G Austin, Texas (Lake Travis)
79 Thomas Ashcraft 6' 5" 315 Fr.-RS OG Cedar Hill, Texas (Cedar Hill)
67 Mason Walters 6' 6" 300 Fr.-RS OG Wolfforth, Texas (Frenship)
57 Andrew Carroll 6' 3" 296 Sr.-SQ* OL Montgomery, Texas (Montgomery)
Dominic Espinosa 6' 3" 282 Fr.-HS OL Cedar Park, Texas (Cedar Park)
Trey Hopkins 6' 4" 260 Fr.-HS OL Galena Park, Texas (North Shore)

I don't know how good OL will be in 2010 for recruiting but as you can see from the numbers and how the OL played in 2009, OL is the number one need position.

After OL, linebacker and running back are needs. Probably need to look for a punter/kicker too.

Between this spring and start of next fall it will not surprise me if there is some heavy attrition across the board at TEXAS. I mean like eight or nine gone (TE, WR, RB, DB, etc) for various reasons like grades, more playing time, injury and discipline.

Cedric Reed - Cleveland DE/TE

"I haven't got to the point to where I'm considering one or two or even five schools. I'm considering everybody. I'll for sure be at Texas junior day in February. I think I'll go to Oklahoma for a junior day too, but I know I'm going to Texas," Reed said.

I'm sure we will get No. 8 Jaxon Shipley WR but I notice that No. 15 MIles Onyegbute WR also has Texas listed as high. If he is willing to verbal and really wants to come here I think we should offer him and no doubt we will have to basically shut down on WR since I think we need to draft some OL this year including I hope a good Center and a good TE. Also a good RB or two and of course good Defensive players that want to come here would be offered. But the main emphasis next year I feel should be offense.
Bear in mind I am only a fan and the coaches would certainly know what is best much better than me.

Miles Onyegbule will almost certainly commit to Texas if offered (which I believe is highly likely). Bob Stoops came by to see him yesterday at Arlington High and my understanding was that Miles was polite but uninterested.

One funny sidenote to Stoopsie's visit - when the coaches were alerted that Stoops had pulled up to the fieldhouse, one of the assistants ran to his office and put on his UT-Ala National Champ Game Sweatshirt prior to greeting him.
