Injury bug really has hit Tenn

this season. Cait McMahan is no longer playing due to knee injuries, Cain is still having problems with her knees, and Baugh is now out after another ACL.

i watched most of Tennessee's game against Kentucky last night. they are definitely struggling to find their identity. struggling to find a floor leader. the injuries and youth are setting them back. they don't seem to be near the team they were when they came to Austin earlier this season. Pat had the death stare on throughout the entire game. i don't think it's working though, bc they seem to be playing scared. playing like they are afraid to screw up.

Mechelle Voepel's blog post about the game is a great read...i think she hit it right on the head.

When worlds *don't* collide

The reality? Tennessee is a team of teeny-boppers, including 19-year-old sophomore Angie Bjorklund, whose game-face expression is starting to resemble that of somebody who just woke up and is gradually realizing she’s in one of those “Saw” movies.

I think that the Tennessee team has still not realized that simply putting on the Tennessee jersey doesn't guarantee you wins. How easy it is to forget that these are 18 and 19 year old girls. It takes time to learn how to win at the next level and they are only 20+ games into their college careers.

They're still learning right now. Several AAs and star players learning the system, college life, Coaches, teammates, student athlete life, how to be role players and not the go to player and whatever else. LEARNING CURVE!!! They will still be in learning mode '09-'10 but next year at the Big Dance 2010 they will be another team and scary good and Final Four bound.

By the time they're Jrs and Srs - WATCH OUT!!

Well said, Cynt. It took our highly touted class a while to jell and there are still times when things are rocky. But that is what the regular season is for and by the time that the big dance rolls around we hope that all of the ups and downs have strengthened the team so that they are ready for the big stage.
