Need recommendations for a decent Hotel/Motel near Town Lake/6th Street. Nothing dumpy, but nothing Four Seasons either

Omni is the best deal. Hotel San Jose is cooler and closer, but more expensive.

If Austin is getting booked up, you can also find decent deals down around Ben White and 35. We decided to go to Austin for New Year's Eve fairly late in the game, and still got a nice room at the La Quinta on Ben White for $60/night (with AAA discount).

use hotwire.com, you won't be dissapointed. Specify 4 stars in the downtown area and unless it's graduation weekend, you'll get a great room for little money.

I have recently used Hotwire. Awesome site.

Found me the Magnolia Hotel in downtown Denver for $84. Normal rate from The Magnolia website for the same room was $159. Not too bad.
