As much as I'd like to see the Ags go through that whole soap opera once again, I actually like the idea of Turgeon staying on in College Station (if you get my drift).
One of my colleagues, who didn't play ball but was in Dick Bennett's American lit class at some mid-sized high school in Wisconsin, was raving yesterday about the entire family -- especially the elder Bennett's integrity.
If son is like dad -- and many think he is -- he'd be a good fit for Indiana. And he is apparently quite the recruiter.
Barnes is going nowhere. I was worried he might take the NC State job a couple years back, but he decided to stay in the greatest city and university and state.
I do think Bennett would be a fantastic hire for IU. In fact, that was my top candidate to replace Sampson when it became apparent an opening was going to be available. He runs a program the right way. His style will fit in well with what Indiana has run traditionally. He'll be able to attract a higher caliber athlete at Indiana, and the fan base is going to love him.
Plus, he's young, so he could be there for 20+ years if he's successful.
