First, income inequality is not a good thing. There's not a single poster on WM that would think otherwise. However, I view it as a subordinate concern to purchasing power growth, standard of life improvements, etc. These may be functions of income equality, however gross income inequality imo is more of a symptom of a poorly functioning market than the actual problem.

That said, the article below made me chuckle.

Anything to do with Income Inequality between men and women needs to have the stats scrutinized

The main fault with all these studies is the income is taken over a period of time and more men work longer and make because of tenure make more money.

Women are much more likely to drop out of the workplace and then try to re-enter the workplace while men have been working the whole time gaining tenure...

This is one of the stupidest arguments I have ever heard............

If one drops out of the workforce for 6,7,8, 10, 15 years you are not going to get the benefit of merit pay increases or pay that coincides with experience......

9-10 of these stats are so out of whack it is not even worth commenting on......oh wait a minute......

The irony about the left's constant whining about income inequality is that their policies are some of the main contributors. Increasing income taxes serves as an anchor to upward mobility and wealth creation. More regulations on small business serve as a barrier to entry for the poor and middle class folks to starting their own enterprises.

In a free market, there will always be wealthy inequality. As any free market becomes more mature, that gap will ALWAYS widen. Its called compounding growth. Furthermore, there is a knowledge gap. I have long believed that long-term, generational poverty is a lack of knowledge not a lack of money. If you don't believe me, ask any of the numerous broke former NFL stars.
