NJ powerhouse St. Patrick's coach Kevin Boyle has admitted to holding illegal off season practices so Calipari could see his players. How the NJSIAA caught Boyle is a matter of controversy in itself. The Link
If this is proven true, then Calipari should receive a life time ban from coaching at the amateur level ever again. He screwed UMass, Memphis and he reaps none of the consequences. **** him, he's what is wrong with college basketball.
I read the article to say the off-season practice was a violation of NJSIAA rules. Can Calipari, or whatever college he was working for at the time, be punished for viewing a practice that was illegal under the rules of the state high school athletic association?
I don't disagree about Calipari being a slimeball. I just wonder if this is an NCAA recruting violation.
Private schools and AAU ruined the "amateur" part of the sport. When I coached, kids could care less when a college head coach (I'm talking like Penders or Crean) walked into the gym. But when an AAU coach walked in, they all went apeshit and started hustling like it was Game 7 of the NBA Finals.
