Last Saturday on a radio show in Lubbock, Kristy Curry was a guest along with a couple of other Tech coaches. The host was asking them if they had ever been mad enough at another coach to want to punch the other coach. The question was part of a discussion about the Univ of New Mexico football coach who had a fight with an assistant.
The radio host asked about anger at opposing coaches who might be negatively recruiting. He asked if they would pick up the phone or say something face to face to that other coach before or after a game. The host used Coach Goestenkors at Texas as an example and asked Curry if she would express her anger if such a thing was happening. Curry was quick to cut the host off and say that Goestenkors was one of the good people in the conference who does things above board and the right way. Curry said that the example question was bad because Coach G wouldn't be one to be angry with over questionable recruiting practices.
Curry said there were some other Big 12 coaches to be very angry with over questionable recruiting practices but she didn't name names. She did say she called one and expressed her "displeasure" with that coach's actions.
So is not getting down into the recruiting gutter a good thing or a bad thing?
I think it is a good thing. Too bad the NCAA is powerless to do anything about the bad ones.
