I'm looking to put in a cd/mp3/etc player into my jeep since the cd player doesn't work and i can only take so many commercials/morning talk shows that dont play music. basically, i want this one but, i want to mount it in the center console of my jeep since its lockable and my jeep provides no other protection from thieves. any ideas on the feasibility of this?

I don't think P/C read your post all the way through.

It's certainly feasible, but Crutchfield probably won't have what you need and if this is your first time to do something like this...I'd probably consider a professional rather than DIY. But that depends.

If you'll be more specific about your Jeep (like a specific model--I assume you're talking about a CJ, YJ, TJ etc.--and year) and if you had any options installed (like the center console subwoofer), that would help a lot. For example, I'm pretty sure (as a Jeep owner myself) there's a company that makes a replacement console fabricated specifically for the installation of a head unit. IIRC it's not inexpensive (like $200 or more), but it's waterproof, pry-proof and locks.

Or, if you have some experience, you can DIY.

its an '02 TJ with stock interiors (lockable center console, a cd player thats never worked, and a radio). I have $100 in gift cards to best buy so I'm trying to at least get the system through them.

This is the console that was mentioned in the previous post.
Tuffy Console

I have a Tuffy console and glove box in my YJ. They have provided me with added security for well over 8 years.
