I know that would never happen in today's CBB world, but my GOD. Do you think that team would ever lose a game?? Wow.

Are they playing in Gainesville against Horford, Noah, Brewer, Richard, Green and company, or in Columbus against Oden, Conley, Cook, et al., or in Chapel Hill against UNC with Brandan Wright and Marvin Williams?

They wouldn't be playing against OSu with Oden because of his injury -- happened way before NBA season..so was an issue either way.

And I'd take our dream team vs. florida.

Bevo5, you're changing the question when you say you would chose our team over theirs. I would, too, but I wouldn't say that our advantage over all schools is such that we could be expected to always win on the road. The last three years of games against aggy should give you an idea of the potential for homecourt wins/blowouts vs. road losses/blowouts.

BTW, the Trailblazers swear Oden's knee was clean before the draft. He apparently injured it in NBA summer games and/or workouts while recovering from tonsilitis. Whether the injury was the result of a single incident or stress over time is not clear.

So, yeah, I would personally prefer our dream team against other dream teams, too, but I wouldn't expect them to go undefeated if the schedule included a few road games against the dream teams of similarly strong programs.

What about the dude that signed an LOI here, but went pro instead (right before they changed the rule)? Can't remember his name, but where would he fit in? I assume he'd have to be in that 2 deep somewhere. I think he'd be a junior this year.

I think this game is played more realistically with our 01/02 team that was 2 points away from the Elite 8. IIRC our starting lineup was TJ Ford, Brandon Mouton, Deginald Erskin
Brian Boddicker, and James Thomas, with maybe Klotz, Ivey, and Freddie Williams on the bench...not sure...Ivey might have started and Erskin played PF.

But, remember, Maurice Evans had left early for the NBA in what many people think was a mistake, and Chris Owens was leading the team in scoring, rebounding, and blocks when he was lost for the year with a knee injury just a couple of games too late for redshirt year. So we could have had:

PG - TJ Ford
SG - Brandon Mouton
SF - Maurice Evans
PF - James Thomas
C - Chris Owens

And we've got Freddie, Ivey, Erskin, and Boddicker coming off the bench. Sigh....

Before Rick Barnes got his first head coaching job at George Mason (where he was an assistant previously) he coached for one year at Ohio State as an assistant under Gary Williams.

After Williams won the national title that year, Barnes told him if Maurice Evans had come back, Texas would have beaten Maryland. Obviously nobody knows how true that is, but it's an indication of how big a loss Barnes considered Evans leaving early.
