Impact

I was at the LSU game and we went toe to toe with them. This team has fallen apart since then. No leadership anymore. We were a top 10 team. Now we’re playing like a team ranked 30. I know the injuries hurt, but how can this team pull together and finish the season? Appears OC’s in the Big 12 know how to attack our defense and we cannot answer. This is wearing Sam out.

I dont disagree with you that our defense gets exposed, but....our offense has been the one putting pressure on our defense as of late (OU and TCU in particular) IMHO.
The O just looks bad...like Charlie Strong bad right now.

You want to win....You hire Art Briles as OC and Greg Robinson as DC....Let them put together their coaching staff they want, and turn them loose. Big 12 champs in two years or less and National Champions in three. Maybe sooner with portal and transfers allowed.

Nope, Urban Meyer Nick Saban Dabo Swinney or new Ohio State dude.

Swinney out of that bunch. Meyer would not fit; Saban will not come; and the new aOSU hasn't proven to be the same caliber as Meyer, Saban or Swinney. Also, while many say Swinney will be Saban's successor, I believe he would be inclined to take the Texas job for $100 million guaranteed but paid over 10 years. He is at least 25% better than Jumbo.

I believe Dabo took about 8 years to win his first NC. Mack and DKR took 8 years. Saban and Meyer were faster but most mortal coaches take a while to get there.
Say TH goes 3-1 and wins his bowl game. 9-4, a down year, riddled with injury worse than I recall since 1997. Below expectations, but they rallied and fought back. I hope we see that. I just hope we do and I know we have the talent. Adjust and move forward.

Don’t forget Stoops and Tressel. And Saban did it quickly at 2 schools.

I forget all kinds of stuff. But yes Stoops got lucky in year 2. BTW, that 2000 NC Hame was one of the worst ever. I just follow college FB closely and I believe TH is going to be great.....someday, not this year though.

The point is, realistic or not, fan bases like Texas want faster results and it’s not unreasonable. Herman knew the deal when he took the job.

unrealistic expectations have doomed more than one administration. if you think Herman was going to take what was left (including early NFL entrees not being part of the mix) and win the Big 12, well, he almost did it. Didn't get close to a natty. Two years from now his first real recruiting class will be seniors. We'll see how it looks then....

Fair enough but a walk off field goal to beat Kansas and loss to TCU don’t inspire confidence in people who have followed the program for 30+ years.

if all of the injuries hadn't happened, I'd be with you, but they did happen, and the backups aren't ready. I thought 44 looked fantastic while getting beat. That's a big guy with track speed, and one day, with experience, he'll be impressive. True freshman running around out there. Look at who is out there. They got replaced by younger more talented players. Now those younger players got hurt, so you've got the guys that weren't exactly killing it out there whiffing on tackles, etc. Urban and Nick would use their names and reps to bring in grad transfers/big time recruits/etc. Herman hasn't built that rep yet.

I've said it many times, hope I'm wrong. When the starters return, they have little practice and game reps as of late and their lousy technique will likely lead to further injuries.

#44 is Tyler Owens. I called him Terrell a couple of times. Sorry Tyler.
He looked over his inside shoulder instead of his outside shoulder and the ball missed the back of his helmet by 6". Could have been an easy pick. Instead it was 52 yards and first and goal TCU. All Tyler had to do was look over his outside shoulder. I was told to watch the receivers eyes and head motion on a deep post route which tells you where to track the ball. It aint hard once you get the hang of it. But you get scared your going to lose your man when you start looking for the ball. I got burned plenty for simply not turning my head. Also drew a few penalties. Tyler will learn not to do that. He is probably 18 or 19. Just a kid. He has crazy speed and size. He will be a monster back there by 2021. Maybe even 2020.
