Impact of TCU Rose Bowl win?

would like ye experts opinions.

I think currently, as in before the Rose Bowl victory; TCU would have been in the running with the kids that are considering Tech, Houston, SMU, Baylor.

Now that Bowl season is over, and considering the Rose Bowl victory, I think this is finally the huge jump the frogs have been hoping for.

So, I think that just maybe TCU leaps to the 3rd best recruiting in the state behind us and Aggy.

Now the aggy angle is interesting, because they've got better facilities, better crowds, it's not close. good TV exposure, NFL coach, chance at a BCS bowl because of big12.

How about Baylor? How much distance does TCU put between itself and Baylor? I don't think somebody like RGIII would have considered TCU three years ago, now, I think the combo. of Big East and Rose Bowl win would give a recruit like that pause to put TCU on his list.

Now the really big question. Can TCU put a dent in OU's recruiting?

Just as good a chance at going to a BCS bowl, facilities and crowd are much better at OU, academics better at TCU.
TCU has got to have really good class sizes compared to any state university.

And, if I'm correct TCU is 3rd in the state, who is #4?

I think Baylor really hurt itself with that huge slide. 7-2 all the way down to 7-6, so forget them. They shouldn't even have a winning record next year, with just us taking care of business. Back to the bottom of the B12 Baylor.

How about SMU?

good scenery on campus, good academics, small crowds at games, no TV exposure, no big bowl.

Tech? big 12, bigname Head coach, good crowds at games, bowl game every year. virtually no chance at a BCS bowl. decent TV exposure.

Houston, worst crowd of any of these guys, not a chance, no TV exposure.

I'll be curious now to see how well they do against the other Texas Schools and Ou! TCU is now upgrading their stadium... and they have a ways to go to upgrade the rest of their facilities!

Good for TCU! I'd love to see them take a serious slice out of Zero U recruiting in North Texas. It is a good thing for more Texas college programs to be competitive and allow Texas HS football players more alternatives that keep them in Texas for college.

hadn't thought of that, but it also raises the possibility that some of the Big East schools could come in here and impact OU and Aggy recruiting.

And I'm thinking Holgorsen knows the area pretty well, should be interesting.

In terms of recruiting quality players who can contribute in college, TCU is already at least No. 2 in Texas. Does anybody really think they piled up all these wins with players not good enough to contribute at Texas, OU, A&M, Tech and Baylor? Recruiting is not just getting the players everyone else is trying to get. It's also about evaluating and projecting. The thing is now that TCU has status to sign players everybody knows is great -- probably with enough sense to know which players everbody thinks is great maybe lacking in something needed to compete, contribute and stay at the next level.

TCU is not good enough to be #2 at this point. I'm talking about getting the literal interpretation of the '2nd best class in Texas'.

That's my big question. Can the frogs really compete, and actually get enough 3 and 4 star players to be ranked #3 in the state in the recruiting class?

This year's recruiting class already done, I guess next year is the real litmus test.

TCU picked a really good year to go undefeated, with Baylor sliding.

But the real news will come whenever the frogs get their first ever 4 star recruit to commit. I guess I should say in modern times. (I'm guessing Kenneth Davis would have been a 4 star)

So Orangecat, you place more faith in Scout and Rivals to identify the best players than Gary Patterson and his staff? I think the whole point of TCU excellence is not that recruting doesn't matter, but that recruitnic ratings don't matter that much.

I think their future recruiting classes will be ranked higher, because just like you know a kid is pretty darned good if he has offers from Nortre Dame, USC, Texas, and Alabama, you'll know he's good if he gets and offer from TCU.

obviously the new stadium appeals to the fans who can pay for the club seats, suites, etc. but does it help recruiting, when your stadium seating is still below 50k?

I think one impact is that Gary Patterson's time at TCU is limited. He's proven he's a badass coach, and I'm not sure about how strong his ties are to TCU, but even with its success the last few years I think that program will continue having problems competing with others for facilities, attendance, revenue, and coaching salaries.

I'm honestly surprised that Patterson is still at TCU and another program hasn't hired him away.

Pattersons trophy wife is FtWorth born-n-bred and loves the place. It would would take a big time position to pull him away. He aint moving for Tech, Baylor, OkSt or OleMiss type jobs. Plus the Big East lure will make it even harder
