I think if we don't hear from Hicks today, he is going to Ohio State. (Last day for spring registration) I hope I am wrong, but I have one of those feelings. (Sometimes it is just gas!!)

If that's your stance, then we should have heard from Hick's already b/c it will be pretty hard to get him in classes tomorrow when he is still in Ohio.

I believe that Hicks has decided that enrolling early is not something he has to do (I dont know if he ever really wanted to), so he just wants to finish with his class.

The only other option he would have is to enroll at tOSU in the last quarter, and I do not know how early that really is or if that's even something he wants to do.

Regardless, I hope he picks Texas, but leaving friends and family may be a little harder for him as decision time looms (i know his mom said she would move where ever he went)

I think that early enrollment is on his mind but not paramount.

I think he wants to finish his basketball career, which requires that he remain in Ohio past registration deadlines at UF and UT.

I think that he is torn by the prospect of going to school where he prefers (UT, even UF) and not rocking the boat too greatly via leaving the state and the life he has built as a young adult (his preferences for the south, etc., stem from adolescence).

It is easier to say you will leave, and that your mom will follow, than is actually done.

One thing to consider: He has been close to the vest all along, so he may have discarded the early enrollment idea and is mum simply because he does not want to be bothered by whatever fallout will ensue due to an announcement that indicates he is leaving Ohio. Most have expected him to do so, but the reality will still cause a bit of howling, and he seems to want to avoid such.

There seems to be a ground swell of belief that he is actually going to stay in Ohio, but I suspect that most of that stems from his failure to commit and one respected insider saying that he has heard from a trusted source that Hicks will stay in Ohio and enroll in Columbus in March. I still think he ends up in Austin (or maybe Gainesville), but I can now see how he might end up in Columbus.

Bottom line: I wouldn't read too much into a lack of a commit today, as I think Texas is still very much front and center and I don't think any commit will transpire today.

The thing I hate is that when Florida State, Miami, and Notre Dame were on top in the 80s and 90s, and we had to wait until signing day to hear from instate players, they almost always left the state.

Now that we are on top, and we try to lure OOS players, they almost always stay home.

What gives?

I think early enrollment was a thought he had a while back that he was probably never as serious about as all the recruiting gurus assumed. Especially considering that he plays basketball, it's entirely possible that he decided he wanted to finish out his senior year and take a little more time to make his decision.

I agree with buckhorn that people assume he is currently leaning to Ohio State simply because they thought all along that if he chose Texas or Florida, he'd announce in early January and hit the road. As quiet as Hicks has been, I find it hard to believe that anyone knows anything, even so-called "insiders." Everything is speculation based on something that Hicks hasn't said or hasn't done.
