Imani Wright Jessica Jackson, 2013

Awesome! - sure hope they choose Texas.

So it looks like we have four considering the Horns for 2013....Jessican Jackson, Imani Wright, Halle Washington and Tyler Scaife. I don't think the the latter has any schools listed on Hoopgurlz but I believe others have mentioned previously that Scaife was considering the Horns. Any ideas as to who might be at the top of our list of the four mentioned above? Three guards and one forward. All are btw 10 and 23 on the Hoopgurlz list so not much difference with respect to rankings.

And I know we've discussed this before but I'm still confused about number of openings for 2013. Since next season's roster has been posted it seems we are restricted to signing just one for the following year, and didn't Vanderzee fill that spot? Someone else mentioned the possibility of another player, or players, being put on medical scholarships and thereby creating addtional openings, but don't you have to do that in advance? In other words, you can't wait and see who might be interested before making that kind of decision.....can you? A player's situation warrants a medical scholarship or it doesn't, and if it does they wouldn't be on the roster.

Someone on the Baylor board posted that Jackson and Scaife will take official visits to Texas in the Fall . . .

well, Washington & Scaife are off the board, either verbaling to another school (Washington) or dropping Texas from consideration (Scaife).

who's next:

2013 Ieshia Small, 6-0 W from Dr. Krop HS in Miami,
Worth a look by Texas?

From Hoopgurlz:
“Bayou-July 10: Small makes the game seem effortless. When she is striding down the court, it appears she isn't even breaking a sweat. The fluidity of her game just seems easy. At 6 feet, with a game bursting at the seams, this youngster from Miami is anything but "small.". She has long, quick strides with which she takes advantage at the defensive end by continually jumping passing lanes and getting the transition game started. She handles the ball well and keeps the dribble very tight to her body when being pressed by a defender. Small has good timing and gets full extension from her leap, which equates to successfully attacking the rim and getting shots off over larger defenders down low. It also equates to an ability to pull down monster boards and mix it up with the bigs. Keep watch to see how the perimeter game progresses; adding a long-distance game to the mix will boost a more-than-solid prospect even higher. (Howe)”

update on Jessica Jackson from the Baylor boards;
Jackson will announce Monday at 9:30 am from her high school which of the five schools she will attend: Arkansas, Baylor, Texas, Texas A&M, and Kentucky.

Interesting to see which she picks although you have to figure that Arkansas has been giving the local girl a big push. Tried to get the story from the local paper but one has to be a subscriber to assess the story.
