The iMac is an effecient design. It would foolish for PC makers not to rip it off.

Dell's is the same price as the iMac, so no price savings. And the downside is that you have to use Vista. You can run both on the iMac if you so choose. Also, the Dell isn't offered in 24 inch screen size.

I was getting ready to buy an imac, but this thread has gotten me thinking....should I wait until the imac can read/write on blu-ray? Or is that not going to happen? If that's the case, should I just get the XPS one?

With the space you save with an imac, what about just buying an external bluray drive?

im not sure we will ever see a bluray drive in the imac.

just get an external drive.

blue rays generate way too much heat to be in an imac. I'll bet they find some way to mount it in back and connect it via Firewire.

I've had a computer in my house since 1983 and ive switched from apple to ibm,back to apple, back to ibm and finally back to apple again this year.
I have to admit, the only thing keeping me w/ IBM was the price compared to the same horsepower machine in a mac.

Now that the price is equal, i dont know why anyone would buy a crappy vista machine.

Not all "Vista machines" are the same prices as a Mac, just that particular Dell model.

Actually since mac is intel based now I wonder if anyone has found a way to install MAc os as the pimary on a hotrod PC. Theoretically, you could have the best of both worlds

With a decent machine vista is incredible.
