I'm thinking about changing Banks

I am currently with Chase by default of them buying out WAMU. I'm not really a big Chase fan so I'm thinking of switching over to Wells Fargo, Frost, or BofA. Does anyone have any insight or impressions of these banks they could give me the low down on?

to Wells Fargo, although I'm also a member of a credit union (who I use for loans).

I have been at BoA for 20 years, but recently when their stock started dropping, I started moving most of it out to Frost Bank which is big here in San Antonio and did not get involved in any subprime loans (unlike BoA). I like having my money in 2 different banks right now anyway.

I'm with Chase by default because they bought Bank One. I like that they have locations all over the place. What ever city I'm in I just watch for a branch as I drive to where ever I'm going and sure enough, one pops up on some random street corner. I don't much appreciate a charge for wiring money to my bank though. That's kind of cheap **** to charge me for putting money in their bank.

Not an expert but I'm a credit union fan. Look at UFCU if you want locations all over town (I bank at Amplify Credit Union in north Austin actually but have a business acct at UFCU). You can use most credit union ATMs for free - they have an agreement. You can go in & negotiate CD rates with most of them, too, if you bring in an ad. Credit Unions typically don't pay 7 figures to bank presidents and they usually don't invest in risky mortgages. Just my 2 cents.

I have banked at Wells Fargo for about 15 years and love the convenience. They are set up in Randall's Supermarkets and the bank lobby is open 7 days a week, sometimes until 7 pm.

Can't beat that.

If you're eligible, you should take a look at the USAA Bank. I'm real happy with it. No fees, you can make deposits at home, free web billpay, no charge to use any ATM worldwide and lots of other things.
