I'm surprised by the lack of power

4 HR in 11 games/359 AB's. That's 1 HR every 90 AB's. Definitely not what I was expecting from this team. I know it's still early, but in my opinion this is a little troubling.

Kyle Russell: 1 HR in 35 AB
Jordan Danks: 1 HR in 41 AB
Preston Clark: 0 HR in 25 AB
Cameron Rupp: 0 HR in 27 AB
Brandon Belt: 1 HR in 47 AB
Moldenhauer: 0 HR (and only 6 hits) in 25 AB....what's up with this guy?
Kevin Keyes: 0 HR in 21 AB

Is anyone else a little shocked that through 11 games, David Hernandez is tied with Kyle Russell, Jordan Danks, and Brandon Belt for our HR lead (1) and has more than Preston Clark, Cameron Rupp, Russell Moldenhauer and Kevin Keyes combined (0)?

I know there's more to scoring runs than HR's (especially with Augie as HC). However, I just assumed this team would display a little more pop in the bat than they have.

One final thought: We have scored 107 runs in 11 games (9.7 per game) so its quite possible that everything I posted above is absolutely worthless as an indicator towards offensive production.

I'm troubled by the lack of power too, but it's early. A promising indicator early is that they're averaging over 7 walks per game 78 in 11 games.

Its very early in the season, and it is a little hard to hit the ball out of the Disch with the strong winds coming from the north.

A couple of balls yesterday were hit right on the button and would have gone yard on a calm day.

winds were blowing out for lefties in right field yesterday. Anything from center to left wasnt going out though.

The Ball will start traveling better as the weather warms up. I look for more homers as the year goes on. Its still early

Put me on the list as worried about the power shortage also. Baylor has been hitting home runs in all their games already with every guy in the lineup having power this year. I know we have a big park, but we can not continue to have the lack of power we have now and expect to be in the hunt this year.
The guys better be working on their hitting every day now, our pitching can not do it alone this year.

How many of our guys are proven HR hitters at this level besides Russell? I think they can hit for more pop, but I am not sure that they will.

3 HR's so far in this game, and it isn't over just yet. Heres to hoping for a few more by the end of this game

Well we got 3 HR's today. But those 6 or 7 double plays and ****** *** pitching kind of negate that. We'll get it all to come together here before long.

Aaron Murphree, Sr. at Arkansas: 12 HRs in 12 games! A lot of early success with the long ball - it will be interesting to see how he does as the season progresses and the competition gets tougher.

texascoder speaks the truth. Season HR totals at Texas never seem to match season HR totals at other stadiums. So it is relative.

I don't think you get to swing at 0-3 counts. I think you are already sitting in the dugout by then.

I am not worried about the lack of power so far at all. Warmer weather and winds out of the south will change that during the months of April and May. A few games away from the Disch will help as well.

I am much more concerned with the LOB numbers than the HR numbers. We must lead the nation in number of runners left on base. We need more clutch hitting.
