Possible names?

Here's what i've got so far:

If it's a boy: Colt

If it's a girl: Glandorf*

*I will be getting this puppy in late January, so if we win the MNC and it's a girl I could name her Mimi (Miami minus the "a", kind of a Bevo type deal) in honor of our MNC.

What do y'all think???

We got a golden puppy last spring. It's a good thing she's so adorable because she's a freaking moron. But, damn, she's sweet.

We named her Ruby.

I just don't think you can name a dog before you meet it.

This thread is worthless without pics.

I'm also of the opinion that you have to meet the pooch before naming.

Goldens are one of the most awesome dogs. They are great watch dogs, too! ;-) They love to watch people walk into your house and out of your house! We just lost our 3rd golden just about a month ago. She was so sweet, just wanted to please you and be around you. Miss you Abbey. :-(

That being said, hope you like vacuuming or sweeping because they shed like no other! As the temps warmed up I think I vacuumed up half our golden's weight in fur.

Agreed with the others who said you need to meet the dog before you name it. You also want to choose a name that does not sound too much like any of the commands you give - no, sit, stay, heel, come.

Careful about naming him Colt- I almost got a dog and named it Major back when he was qb. I now live across the street from Major and would be really embarrassed if he heard me yelling his name in my yard

retrievers are great dogs but not great puppies.  get ready to have all your **** chewed up and all your plants uprooted.

Definately shed a lot. Ours isn't anywhere close to full grown-- and hence doesn't have her full fur-load, and we still have to vaccuum every day.

As for chewing, our has yet to chew up anything, which still amazes me. But then, she had an older dog to entertain her.

Here's our girl when we first brought her home:

And Ruby now....

It's amazing how fast they grow

I'll tell you what we named our golden (hope someone understands why).

Sunrise Express or "Sunny"

She's the greatest dog. She hasn't chewed anything up in the house but loves to eat sticks and grass outside.

We too are getting a Golden puppy in January (boy). Leading name possibility is IKE, because he was apparently conceived during the hurricane. But someone suggested we might not a reminder of that terrible storm, so I might have to steal an idea from this thread.

I named all my kids before I met them. But as for dogs I have named all of mine for musicians and currently have a lab named Lita. Had a golden as a kid and they are great dogs but do tend to get lots of burrs in their hair hence the reason I stick with short haired labs now.
