I'm feeling pretty good about this Manny Diaz hire

First off, it's the offseason, so bear with me.

I saw Manny Diaz jogging around campus yesterday. I thought it was pretty cool. Diaz has shown that he has absolutely loved his stay at Texas. Ya, sure, he has very little experience and he's commanding our D, but I have a good vibe from him and am expecting big things (even if it means giving up big plays here and there). I'm eager to see the transition from the "bend, not budge" D.

Hopefully, by this time next year, I'll feel even better about Diaz.

A guy jogging on campus gives you a good vibe? Diaz will give me good vibes when our defense doesn't let running backs from un-ranked teams break big plays.

I will wait until I at least see the team play in a game, OU game, College Station and a bowl game. Then I will pass judgement on our friendly neighborhood jogger.

By the way he is just checking out the chicks.

D looked good in the scrimmage today. Talked with Diaz as well as his wife and one of his sons. He was more subdued than I expected. Akina was fired up today.

Him running doesn't give me a good vibe, but he's done multiple actions that suggest that he's absolutely thrilled to be a part of this program, as he should be, and running around campus is one of those things. We have some amazing facilities he could use, and tracks to run on. There are plenty of relaxing places to jog in Austin. He does his on campus. It doesn't make me think he's any better as a coach, but it was interesting to me because most coaches hold distance between themselves and students, while Diaz runs with them.

Dammit, it's offseason and NCAA infractions, recruiting, staffing, practice reports... have all been pretty slow lately. Thank god for March Madness.

The D looking good in a spring scrimmage doesn't mean much. Now if the D looks good against OU this year, that will mean something.

Santafe, I was trying to be positive. Actually, the O just looked horrible. Not sure how many here have OB accounts, but based on what I saw at the scrimmage and what I read there, they are just making stuff up.

I'm not sure why a new offense would keep a QB from being able to throw a routine pass, a WR from catching it or a OL from blocking his man at all. I'm not talking about on complex plays. I'm talking about basic blocking and pitching and catching.

Simply put, these weren't "new offense" problems. These were the same problems we had last year. We can't block, throw, catch or run very well.

because they are thinking about what they are supposed to be doing and where they are supposed to be rather than executing.

It'll be ok. If we can ever find guys who can block someone, 2012 and 2013 could be pretty fun to watch.

I saw Major at Chick-Fil-A a few weeks ago. While I was eating my chicken sammy, I thought to myself... I like the way Major handles the waffle fries, I think we'll win 10 this year.

Major's a ******* ninja with the waffle fries, everyone knows that. But did you hear about the milkshake incident? Spilled a little on his slacks. No ****. We'll be lucky to win 8 this year.
