I'm all for Texas secession

NATO should never expanded eastward. Next step will be a confrontation between Russia and NATO because Ukraine is only the beginning. I don't want any part of this. Hell, oil is now hovering at $100/barrel. Secede and any US Russia confrontation leaves us out. And we have oil.

Patton was right. We should have destroyed those SOBs at the end of WW2. Eventually, we will have to do so if they keep their cold war mentality and remain a dictatorship.

#1 That wasn't going to happen. The US was actively giving money and supplies to the USSR through the war. Also FDR was a huge fan of Stalin along with much of the leaders of the US at the time. Even more it wasn't necessary. Socialism doesn't work. It can never take control of the world because IT DOESN"T WORK.

#2 Russia isn't operating under a cold war mentality. That would be NATO. There is a lot that has gone on from 1991-2022 that has led to the Ukraine situation. Putin supported Donbas separatists and possibly moving in military there is but an outcome of that history. The US has been the bad actor most of the time in that history. We actually had very good relations with Russian 1999-2002 or a little beyond. Putin saw the US as neutral to an ally of sorts, and had no desire to control Ukraine. It was US actions that changed that.

I am for secession even if temporary. But I think Texas would need to set up a trading bloc and invite other states to participate. We could call it the American Republic or some such.
