In Likely First, Chicago Suburb Of Evanston Approves Reparations For Black Residents
Let's do some math.
The city authorized 10 million to fund the program and will pay each qualifying person $25,000
It applies to black residents of Evanston from 1919 to 1969 OR someone who is a direct descendant of a resident.
According to the 1970 census, Evanston had approx 13,000 black residents. I'm going to assume that 1969 was similar.
So for one year, that's 13,000 x $25,000 = 325 million dollars.
And that's just for one year, and just for the residents not including the direct descendants.
Evanston might need to up their reparations budget a little.
