U.S.A.: A Case Study in Unfettered Conservatism

2 trillion $$s: For an idiotic war in Iraq

1 trillion $$s: A tax cut for the wealthiest

1 trillion $$s: Medicare drug law that wasn't paid for

9.1% unemployment, Highest income disparity, vanishing middle class, disappearing manufacturing, and the list goes on...

what does this list have to do with conservtism?

I bet none of this would have happened if it weren't for those meddling, obstructonist Illinois Republicans, blocking every Democrat bill that could have saved the state from financial ruin.

Oh, wait...

And to think, we took the "top" Illinois Dems away and put them in the White House, in charge of the entire country.

That is equivalent to a successful major league baseball team replacing its entire staff with the the coaches from its single A farm team that has finished dead last for ten straight seasons and was busted for throwing games to cover the point spread.

Insanity.

When the U.S. Census Bureau reported last week that a record number of people were living in poverty, Republicans were quick to attach the figures to President Barack Obama, desperately trying to lay them at his feet. But anyone with common sense knows that someone doesn't just fall into poverty overnight. The deplorable economic conditions that led to today's poverty numbers began in 2007. Republicans often ignore such facts. Yet when you start digging deeper into the Census Bureau report, what stands out is that of the 10 poorest states in the country, most are the reddest in the nation -- solidly GOP states

Since, as usual, you didn't provide a link, I don't know which states you are talking about.

But if it's the same states that alway make that list, transport all of the registered Democrats from each red state and put them in the top blue states, and the rankings will flip flop.

Neat, huh?

good to know we lived in a liberal utopia before 2007 and all aspects of the economic downturn had nothing to do with any policies before it. looks like you got a standard public school education satch.

there's records of people up here, who worked for the state as teenagers, making <25k a year. They went on to take real jobs after college, and started making 6 figure salaries. after retiring, they go back to working for the state for 1 day, and then collect state pensions at their private company salary levels. So now they collect their private retirements AND state pensions.

Thx Mr. Daley.
