III Forks

We went there last weekend and had just a fantastic meal after a long day of landscaping.

I had the wedge salad and the bone-in ribeye, with a decent cab. Wife had filet w/ crabcake, buddy and his wife also had filets.

Anyway, a really solid dining experience. It probably goes without saying but for any of you who may be wondering, but bring your wallet.

one of the many great steak houses in the DFW area....

interesting to see what everyone else has in there top 10...

My fave is Kirby's (for the value of the meal and some personal nostaglia)....but....all in all these are my top

Al Biernats
Nick and Sam's
Perry's
Del Frisco's
III Forks
Bob's (personally will never go again because of a service issue) but very good.
Pappas
etc....

have not been to Craft or N9ne yet....

some people rant and rave about Chamberlans, Silver Fox, Capital Grille, Sevy's, Dakotas,

Then there are the Trulucks, Ruths Chris, Sullivans, the Palm, etc...

its pretty incredible that there are almost 20 premium steakhouses within the 214 between downtown and nw highway. I am sure i am missing a few.

Based on food alone:

I thought the food at N9NE was awful. But my waitress was hot, so I've gone back (only when someone else is paying).

I like Nick and Sam's best I think, followed by Bobs.

For overall single guy atmosphere, N9NE can't be beat.

1. Perry's
2. Del Frisco's
3. Pappas Bros.

Bob's is good for steak, but everything else is subpar. The sides, salads, bread, wine list. Rather pedestrian.

Chamberlain's used to be a great value, but I think they have raised prices a tad.

Al Biernat's has a great vibe to it. Not stuffy at all. And they have great non-steak meals.

Any of you find yourself in the North Dallas/Tollway/Frankford Road area ....same area as Sullivans, III Forks, try Rick Stein's Steakhouse....tollway access road, east side between Briargrove and Frankford, next to some kind of Brazil thing, used to be Sterling's.

Good steaks, GREAT veal chops, nice wine list, killer desserts, and Rick Stein and his staff are extremely friendly and personable.

For those that have not had the bone-in ribeye at Nick and Sam's....make that your next stop. You absolutely will not be disappointed.

III Forks took the top "steak" spot for me in Austin including Jeffrey's, AL&C (2nd favorite), Sullivan's, Fleming's, Reed's, etc.

Their medium rare NY Strip is beyond excellent.

I'll take III forks over any other steak in austin simply because they bring you all of the sides with your steak. I just really like that.
