by running an experiment that isolated a Higgs Boson "God" Particle, but there was a 1 in a million chance it would destroy the universe, would you do it?

Salon - Hawking says God particle would destroy the Universe at the speed of light

No, in this case you would need a supercolider bigger than Earth, so unless the Professor forgot to carry a 1, that's probably impossible as we know it. But, who's to say technology won't reach the point where a Texas-sized collider could be the Hammer of Thor?

More likely, is the chance of CERN accidentally creating a black hole that sucks the Earth from within into the size of a baseball like what happened to Vulcan in the new Star Trek movies.

“A particle accelerator that reaches 100bn GeV would be larger than Earth,” Hawking wrote, “and is unlikely to be funded in the present economic climate.”

Unlikely.

I'll readily admit that science wasn't my strongsuit so I don't feel qualified to comment.
