If you didn't live in Austin, then where?

Since wife is from Toronto, we'd prolly move up there..

Houston's not a bad place either, in my opinion. I've always liked that city when I've visited..

And being an LSU alum, Baton Rouge would be a place I'd consider.

My brother lived in San Diego for several years before moving to Maui. I went out to visit him in SD on numerous occasions and always thought that it would be a nice place to live.

In no particular order:

Vancouver, B.C., San Diego, Berlin, San Francisco, Prague, Paris (either Montmarte or St. Germain), Denver.

If you are going to the DC area i reccomend Virginia. If you actually have to drive into DC get an up armored Hummer.

Houston. I actually live here and would rather live here than austin. Austin is nice to visit, but is so far up its own *** that it irritates the **** out of me after a while. The only place that prides itself on ****** service because your waiter is a high college graduate who chose not to get a job. So wrapped up in being nonconformist that the entire city is the exact ******* same. I love visiting Austin, but I couldn't live there. I had an absolute blast in college, and I wish austin's politics were more prevalent around the state, and having 20k+ college girls constantly cycling through is a major plus; but its just too up its own *** for me.

And its too far from the coast.

Edinburgh.

I live in Houston now and would also rather live here than Austin. Austin was fun for college and to visit, but it's too cramped and small for me to live there as an adult. (And i know Edinburgh is a cramped city, but it's different)

no particular order:

Vancouver, Amsterdam, London, New York City, Prague (maybe Bratislava), Vienna, Ljubljana (Slovenia), Paris, or Hong Kong.

I like places where you can mostly do what you want without government interference.

Yeah I'm pretty sure Houston can't brag about it's coast. It's dirty, but I guess that goes along with the rest of the city. So in that regard, both Austin and Houston are equal distances from the Atlantic or Pacific.

I'm not sure where I'd live, but probably either So-Cal, Hawaii, or Florida. I hate cold winters, and if I'm gonna move away from my family in Texas, I want nice warm beaches year round.

I am a native Houstonian, and my wife is from Dallas. Lately, Dallas has been growing on me. Like Houston, the people in DFW are friendly, if not friendlier. I can see myself living there in the future.
Both Houston and DFW are great cities, you just have to know where to go and what to do when you get there. In Austin, the fun stuff to do and cool places to go are obvious and ample, In H-town and DFW they are equally cool but are better kept secrets. Thats why first time visitors think they both suck...
