If you want to go to the NFL, go for a few years, earn the money and come back to Austin asap to coach here at the 40. OC, qb's coach, head coach one day it does not matter. You belong here and no one will ever represent Longhorn football with more talent mixed with determination and grit, or represent this University with more class, character and integrity than you Colt. This last game hurts, but your legacy far surpasses any one game, even the NC. Please don't be sad about it for very long. You are a legend to all of us.
Just wondering if maybe this thread could be moved to "On the Field"? I think more would see it if it were there to respond. Who knows, maybe Colt will be shown this by a friend or family member. Just feel for him and want him to know everyone is thinking of him.
You are the young man that parents dream about. You never embarassed yourself, your family, your teammates or your University. You shared your faith proudly, but with humility. The Longhorn Nation has been made better because you are part of it. Thanks for the great years and the great memories. You are Longhorn Royalty.
Like I told your mom when we met the bus before the last home game, you are a credit to all college football players and Texas was so very lucky to have you play for them for 4 years.
If all college football players (or people in general) had your character, the world would be such a better place.
We wish you the very best in all you do in the rest of your life.
Thank you, you represented the university with class and dignity that we all have come to expect. But more importantly this game will not define your life and that you are a good person and will do bigger and better things in your life. Thank you for your time with us and we will always cherish it.
I am old enough to have seen Duke Carlisle and James Street, and Vince play the game. I watched, in person, each of them win the National Championship. But I will carry with me forever an image of Colt that in some ways surpasses them. The honor and fight and decency with which he represented Texas is something – far separate from a coveted crystal trophy – that each of us can carry with us wherever we go, whoever we play, and whatever we do.
