If you could go anywhere in North America...

... where would it be?

I just purchased 2 roundtrip NWA tickets in a silent auction for charity for $450. They have to be used within one year and I can go anywhere in the lower 48, Alaska, Canada, Mexico or the Caribbean.

Where should I go?

We're mid twenties and my wife and I have been to NYC, Colorado 3 times, Niagara Falls, Pittsburgh, San Francisco since we've been married. We're very strongly considering Vancouver, B.C. / Seattle or something in the Caribbean.

Lostman got it right. Vancouver in the summer, sunny islands in the winter - or go back to Whistler if you like to ski. I much prefer Vancouver to Banff. Both have great skiing, but Vancouver has so much more to offer than Banff. In the summer, you can go up to the Gardens, lots of hiking, fishing, great night life, whatever fits your tastes. In the winter, it is pretty cold - so if you are not a ski buff, head to the islands.

Yeah, I just read that Whistler is where the 2010 Olympic skiing is going to be and it's right there by Vancouver. Their site says that Blackcomb Mnt at Whistler stays open until June. It shouldn't be as cold if we go in April or May.

The idea of skiing at Whistler for 3 days or so and then spending the rest of the time in Vancouver/Seattle is sounding really appealing.

if you go to Vancouver, make the ferry trip over to Victoria and maybe even spend some time in the San Juan Islands as well. Time permiting.

Maybe it's just me, but we went to St. Thomas and St. John in January. It was HOT. It's always hot here, and I don't want to spend what little winter we have in Texas where it's hot! So, I'd vote for Canada in the summer!

Alaska in late July/early August. I read an article listing the best vacation spots in the entire world for each month and Alaska was listed for July.

I went last summer in early August and it was incredible-- if you like doing outdoors-y type stuff-- camping, ice climbing, glacier hiking, sea kayaking, etc.

If you decide to go to Alaska DO NOT GO WASTE TIME GOING TO FAIRBANKS. Fly in and out of Anchorage. Don't bother going any farther north than Denali NP. Head south to either Seward or Homer for a nice excursion to a fishing town.

I've done British Columbia, and although it is beautiful... little compares to snorkeling in shallow water reefs. Do the Caribbean man.

My vote is Alaska in the summer - simply amazing place. I DO like to go north of Fairbanks - I love to see the more native areas. Denali is a must! But fishing on the Kenai is like none other! Homer is my favorite place on the Kenai. Kodiak is great too. There's hardly any place in Alaska that I don't like.

If it's NWA, fly into Billings, MT, rent a car, and go to Yellowstone through Cody, WY or Red Lodge, MT. Take the loop and come out in Gardiner, and head back to Billings.

Lots of cool stuff to see up in that area--Big Horn Mountains, Yellowstone, Little Big Horn, Jackson Hole (in the summer--too long of a trip in winter).
