If we brought in Boise and BYU...

...what would all those writers who bemoan that BYU and BSU don't have a chance at the BCS Championship write about?

They would write that Texas brought them into the conference in an obvious money grab while the rest of the conference was against the move.

The Green Bay Packers could play in the NCAA and go 12-0 and win every game 77-0 and if they weren't listed as belonging to a BCS conference people would still say they don't ever deserve to be given any shot at winning a title.

Looks like there is definitely some momentum building to get TCU and BYU on board so we may find out...

I like TCU in the Big12, but still wish we could dump Baylor in return.

too bad we couldn't add Boise, BYU, TCU, and dump Baylor.

re: TCU or SMU. The more I think about it, it makes sense to add another TX program to ensure aggy doesn't get a shitload of media attention by being in the SEC. In fact it *may* be worth looking into adding a Houston Univ as well. Rice, UH, no matter.

If aggy plays LSU in Reliant every yr as someone mentioned, that has TEXAS-OU potential whether we want to believe it or not. We really need to protect that market, we've recruited well there.

If not add a Houston program, then we need to schedule a rivalry game in Reliant ourselves. If aggy is out, then how about a T+1 or early Nov game for us vs Notre Dame? Promise ND the moon in financial rewards to play here yearly. Upside for them w/b the recruiting exposure here. I'd rather give the Irish an inroad vs the whole damn SEC.

Plus, w/ aggy gone we'll need to upgrade the OOC. That's reality. Might as well have an annual shootout in Reliant

I haven't really thought this through but what the hey, how about the Big XII goes to 16.

Boise State
Air Force
BYU
TCU
Houston
Nevada

Nevada, BYU, Air Force, Boise adds some TV's. Houston put a major competitor in AM's back yard and TCU, I just want to whip their *** every year!!!!

orangecat1: Why would you want to add TCU, yet dump Baylor? What do you think that move would make sense? TCU for Baylor?

simple, TCU is a lot better program than Baylor, and Baylor is doing nothing to invest in their program to make it better.

compare to TCU, major stadium upgrade, consistently wins 10+ games a year, recruiting is comparable to Aggy and Tech.

In short, they do everything better than Baylor, and the only two factors that have stopped them from having better attendance have been their stadium and the lack of being in a major conference.

What would the Big-12 possibly gain by adding SMU (164,000 fans), Rice (127,000), UTEP (115,000), or Houston (100,000)? If the Big-12 added one of these, we would have a member with a fan base smaller than Baylor’s (and Baylor is last in the conference). It just doesn’t make any sense. These universities have tiny fan bases and they would do nothing to increase TV revenues and national exposure. At least Boise State (484,000 fans) and BYU (710,000) would bring large numbers of fans with them.

Well, now that they are 0-4 and lost to Sam Houston State, I think we can dispense with any New Mexico to Big 12 talk.

The AD that was responsible for the UH debacle in 2002 or whenever has been long gone. I think we put UH in the doghouse long enough. Playing a game in Houston every year is important to recruiting, Houston alumni, and to our players from Houston.

It also puts us in AM's back yard every year and I love being one step ahead of them.

I like adding BYU, Boise and UH.

We don't want any more big boys, the OU game features two teams with more than 10 national championships, that is our yearly playoff game, get past that game and we have a shot.

Not many other games in the country during a season have more than 10 national championships in a game between two teams.

Let's see Notre Dame games because they have so many, USC has a bunch, Alabama has a bunch(questionable), Florida recently has a handful and so does Miami. Not many games during the season are two teams with more than 10 NC's.

There is not a snowball's chance in He$$ that another team from TX (not named aTm) will be invited to join the Big12.

If y'all haven't learned by now that this stuff has nothing to do with actual football and more to do with TV sets and $$$$ then there is no helping you.

It sucks that College football is turning into a mini NFL. If I wanted the NFL I'd watch on Sunday, but I don't. I liked the college game of 10-20 years ago.

I'm with you! And back in the early to mid 70s there were only so many tmes a team could be on TV in a 3-5 year span, not including bowl games. There weren't that many bowls either! But you're right on, the College game is a show case or almost fram league for the NFL anyway.

Texas may not vote in another Texas team but the other teams like playing in Texas and against Texas Universities, this may be an issue that we have not choice with. Oklahoma loves playing in the Houston market everyother year or in Texas 2-3 times a year. We may get out voted out on this subject. When OU plays in College Station it is a big deal in Houston.
