wow, tied in the loss column with Minnesota, and both the Rays and the Yankees have lost two in a row, to put the Rangers only 5 behind in the loss column.

Could the Rangers put together a hot streak? Right now they've won five of the last 6. If they make it 10 of 12 or something like that, they would pass Minnesota, and make it really close with the East.

Does it matter though? We just need to be the #2 division winner correct?

Home field advantage throughout the AL playoffs would be nice - but it's asking a lot to pass both the Rays and the Yankees.

Right, OC & HHD. Methinks we need to finish above the Twins so we get Home Field in first round...which will be against either the Yanks or Rays. Finish below Twins and you end up going on the road to NY or TB. If we win first round, as far as home field goes, as the illustrious Super Bill Bradley once said, it won't make a s... !

What pissed me off was the attempt to claim manny ramirez off waivers. Seemed like a reactionary thing because the offense is struggling so much lately. Gotta think that when cruz and kinsler get back in the line up and with moreland hitting better than our previous 2 first basemen combined, we can return to being a potent offense. At this point, don't see any reason for giving cantu any extended playing time. I just hope kinsler doesn't go back to the 3 hole.

I'd love to see a lineup of: Andrus, Young, Hamilton, Guerrero, Cruz, Kinsler, Murphy, Moreland, Molina/Treanor. That's a pretty potent lineup right there. Don't see any need to panic and add ramirez to the roster when one of the best things about this team is chemistry.

I don't think Frankie going down is a big loss for the time being. I'd love to see O'Day or Ogando get a closer look at the set-up role for a little while until we see if Frankie's head is screwed on right. Two meltdowns against the Yankees has really got me off the Francisco bandwagon. That being said, I'd like to have him back healthy for the stretch run (in case wash does some more crazy situational relief like he did the other night against the twins).

I'm beginning to think we're not gonna see Kinsler any more this season. Will he even be able to get into game shape?

Cruz is back tonight. Kinsler is supposed to be back when we play Minny this weekend, right?

I like the lineup posted above, but having Hambone in CF everday is a concern. I like having him in LF with an occasional start in CF. Maybe Murphy could play CF? Not sure he has the speed necessary in our ballpark to play out there. Either way, having Cruz/Kinsler back will definitely help the offense.

We need to make a statement on this long road trip. We've got KC, Minny, Toronto and NY. That's a tough stretch, for sure, but we've risen to the occasion before. I have faith we'll put together a nice run.

LOL, the Rangers need to worry about winning their 2nd playoff game in franchise history before worrying about home field. This thread is like aggy worrying that there won't be enough hotel reservations for all of their fans for the B12CG. On paper I'd say you guys have a chance to win it all, but history shows you are one of most consistent chokers in pro sports history. Baby steps, guys.

Soooooooooo, we're supposed to shut up and wait for the choke, or do we act like this is a Message Board and urge our team along and keep working on the biggest division lead in MLB with hopes of gaining some advantage during the playoffs? Astro Man, you can now return to your Houston sports scene for...for...I'm sure there's something like the minor league hockey team will open camp soon, or something.

Great game tonite for CJ. Needed that one.

I guess there aren't enough Lane Kiffin bashing threads up anymore & the fans are bored

Indeed a terrific outing by Wilson. Let's have another solid outing tomorrow by Cliff - with some big-time run support for him.

Serious question...when have the Rangers ever choked? I think a choke is when you are better and blow it. Last year they faded late but frankly were never within 3 games the last few months and weren't as good a team.

Were the teams in the 90's as good as the Yankees juggernaut?

My family in Arlington always says "typical Rangers" when things go poorly. But I don't see it. Are they chokers due to lack of postseason success? Or were they just bad? To me it's like saying the Pirates are chokers for not making the playoffs for 18 years. No, they are just bad.

Lee has a minor back problem per the postgame reports last nite. Sit him out, get him back 100%.

His 2 throws to 2nd base that were way off target kind of explains it (to me). That just wasn't norm for him. Routine throws, but required him to wheel and throw

we blew a golden opportunity tonight. bullpen had a chance, lost it. This injury bug seems to continue, Hamilton? what is his status? back? not too surprising, knee then back, minor injuries maybe, but man, we need a completely healthy lineup if we're to actually win a playoff series.

was really good to see Kinsler back in the lineup. he looked so sharp and ready to go - should be a boost. Ogando and Harrison stunk it up after Holland had looked good. Wash is probably kicking himself though he has to have a bullpen he can rely on. I have to imagine some of these guys are auditioning for the playoffs.

on the brite side, the dutch oven was nasty (sorry).

Josh worries me a bit. I don't think he'll ever be healthy, but when he is pain free he's the best player in the game...just not sure if he'll be worth the cash needed to sign

wow, Josh is up for contract negotiations? oooh, now that's got to be a dicey deal. injured just enough to warrant a serious reduction in $ if you ask me. I think average # of games played will be a serious factor.

I don't think you really pay him to be an everyday center fielder, should be a very interesting off-season. Playoff performance might determine what happens.

well, maybe they can end the slide tonight. right now, hold a precarious 3-0 lead. Pitcher has thrown 80+ pitches, not even through 5 innings, bullpen will have to hold it.

It's gonna be a nail-biter, that's for sure.
