If Texas has ever had the chance to Hang 60 on OU, THIS IS IT!

If you look at a comparison of the Offensive and Defensive units of both teams, Texas has the Edge on every single one except for maybe Linebacker. I am so hoping this talent level and and a fanatical effort like the one we saw in the Bama game, come together to make something like a 60 point win to happen.
The sense I am getting from the OU fan base here in the Tulsa area, smacks of doom and wave the white flag dread. OU is ranked at #118 in rush defense allowing 7.1 yards per carry!!! EEEKKK
This prevailing sense of this oncoming dread is coming from sportscasters on both television and radio. I have never seen this in all my years of following this game. It's even worse than the Blake Era years.
It is high time this Longhorn team rewards itself and the fan base, with a 60 point beat down, by returning the favor of OU delivering them to Texas back in 2000,
2003 and 2012.
By accomplishing this Saturday, we may begin to make folks believe, "TEXAS IS BACK" for real!!

I’m thinking we have the edge at LB. I was speaking with a couple ou grad clients yesterday and apparently they have only 4 scholarship LBs on the roster. We have a couple of good ones in Overshown and a surging Ford.

That was Mack being a gentleman
Normally, I may agree. But, who here was surprised when we hit Billy Pittman on the wheel route right before the half? I was. It was not typical Mack. Get the ball to start the 3rd, run a few plays,.. be content with a lead a the half. Nope, we go into halftime guns a blazin'.

And, as much as I liked that he was a gentleman otherwise, he always politely spoke to the on-field reporters and always said their name, after being humiliated by Stoops and company in 2000 and 2003, it would change my opinion on the fact that I have always regretted we let him go until we had the right replacement to take the reigns.

If he was going to be a gentleman, it would have been against ULaLa, Baylor, and KU. Hell, he hung 60+ against his former team Tulane in 2003. So, if he somehow was being polite to that douchecanoe Stoops, it would be a major head scratcher. Granted, he did call off the dogs early in the 3rd quarter against Colorado but that was after hanging 70 on them.

With all due respect, etc., your Emminceesness....

We only scored 14 in the second half in that game and on our last drive, as even our 3rd string was plowing through them in the final minutes, Mack kept taking intentional delays of game to prevent us from getting to 70 points.[/quote]

Not true at all. Mack wouldn't take unnecessary risk of turnovers before the half, but if he thought he could add that extra score he was by gawd going to try. Your assessment of Mack applies to the second half, not the first.

As the game went on it was kind of weird. OU had a few productive plays but for the most part they just looked completely incompetent at everything. I don’t remember seeing an OU team play that poorly.

How about that. I guessed close. Wanted a 60 point beatdown. Almost got a 52 point win if only Bert Auburn doesn't push the kick to the right. BUT ...
We got a 49 - 0 Shut Out. The biggest margin ever in the RRR!
In fact it was equal to the 63-14 margin Texas was handed back in 2000.
As far as I know, Texas has never been shut out once in the 118 year long series!
I feel GREAT wearing my TEXAS gear again!

It was only 49 points. Are you disappointed?
What difference does it make to you if anyone is disappointed by that? I started a thread about this being the most satisfying win that I have seen on TV in this series. But, yes, it was disappointing that we took the starters out to watch the backups run handoff after handoff then see the otherwise nails kicler miss to break the 50 point barrier.

So what?

You are correct. Texas has not been shut out once. They have been shut out 10 times.

I'm only disappointed that it was OU and we weren't throwing for TD's with 2 minutes left in the game. After all the times stoopid did that to us I was ready for some deep salt in the open wound emotional damage why do we even have a football program anymore type of stuff. 49-0 was pretty freaking awesome though.

I would have been just fine with some ungentlemanly kicking the Sooners when they were down too. I remember that midget running back in the early 90s all too well.

And yet, I would have hated it if one of our front line players got injured while we were doing so, so I'll just have to be satisfied with applying the largest shutout ever delivered upon the dirt burglars.

Like I said, allowing the backups to get meaningful experience doing more than watching running backs get the ball is not running up the score if they can't stop it.
