...they why would the SEC support a change in the rules to allow more than two teams from any BCS conference in the mix?

Because much like the year the Big 12 had TX, OU, OSU and Mizzo in the top 15 only two made it to BCS. Also tiebreaker year when TX got the short end.

SEC may have a better third place team available than a second place AQ conference. see PAC 12 and Big East for examples.

Three teams from one conference is a truck load of money into that conference. It would skew the BCS bowl revenue among the AQ conferences.

I'll be surprised if that idea goes anywhere. After the realignment mess, if this pushes too hard in a certain direction, it puts pressure on the NCAA to step in and force an issue on it's hand in collegiate athletics. Either it's in or it's out. All in, or all out.

Right now the conferences, the individual institutions (Presidents, Regents, ADs), the BCS Rulers, and the NCAA are all on scattered pages... oh, add the Networks into the mix as well. How'd you like to have had a military like that heading overseas in the 1940s to engage in a war?

It may take a law suit, or several, to decide who has the rights to steer collegiate athletics and university funding derived from athletics. To include the players themselves.

One more thing... with all the hollering over Texas pushing it's weight around... it appears the SEC, as a conference, is doing just that. Or, is more than willing to if any opportunity arises.

A&M just left a conference with a perceived Boss Hog, but has elected to join a conference that in itself is just as easily perceived as a Boss Hog.

Even more than ready if permitted... to hog more BCS bowl money.
