Yes, Hermie did say that drunk driving penalties needed to be stiffened. For those with a bac .10 or greater. But not for those with a .08 or .09. You don't think that makes a differece?
Herm also used the .15 number as the cutoff where most accidents occurred, right?
Which, if you're following along, seems to be in priniciple the easy way out. Keep the level at .10 while calling for tougher sentences. Seems to me the more common-sense approach would be more along the lines of lowering the bac to .08. But that's just me. I'm not all common-sense like Herm.
So, the question remains, will Herm call for raising the bac up to .10? Of course, he'd have to also toughen drunk driving laws and all.
The point here is that Herm is not an outsider, but another money-grubbing, power-sucking businessman/lobbyist now making a run at political power. But hey, nothing wrong with that. It's the blueprint of American politics. That, and either being an attorney or marrying an heiress.
