If Durant/Augustin were playing!

As this season has progressed or in our case regressed, I have thought about the what ifs! The biggest what if being if Kevin Durant and DJ Augustin had played out their four years, they would be on the current roster and contributing significantly to this team.

We most likely wouldnt even have half of the losses that we currently have and possibly might even be undefeated or at most have just one loss. We definitely wouldnt havent lost to Baylor, KState, UConn, Oklahoma, or Mizzou which were all winnable games! We definitely would have been more competitive and possibly even won the game against Kansas! These are just my thoughts, so I look forward to hearing from fellow posters to offer up their opinions!

As a sidenote, I do think Varez Ward(and his great defense) going down early in the season and Coach Barnes' regressed coaching decisions this season have both played a huge part in the Horns' seasonal meltdown! They need to win all of their remaining games in order to get at least a 4 seed IMHO or go deep into the Big 12 tourney! I just dont know. I am still a huge fan and I want the Horns to do great things, but maybe we all set our expectations too high for this very young team. I also think that all of the freshman, Bradley, Hamilton, Brown, and Shawn Williams should return for another season, because they arent ready for the NBA. Too much inconsistency!

More than Durant and Augustine, we need Ivey and Mihm so we can have a guy on the perimeter who is both a great defender and a good shooter/ballhandler, and a starting post who doesn't disappear.

With either one of Durant and Augustin staying even for one more year, we would probably have won a national championship. Even if that hypothetical would have occurred, there is no way they would have stayed another year after that. The way Durant is playing right now, he could win the national championship all by himself.

Kinda like the old Super Fans SNL skits:

"Okay, gentlemen, another scenario: Da Bears, they don't make it, the plane is delayed.. and the only one who shows up is Ditka. Ditka vs. Da Giants. Okay, score, gentlemen."
"Alright, after da heart attack, I gotta say Ditka 17, Giants 14. He just barely gets by."
"Alright, that sounds exciting. Perhaps, you know, a late Ditka field goal."
"Bears!"
"Bears!!"

"Alright. Ditka vs. God in a golf match. Now, he's a good golfer."
"Ditka."
"Dit-ka!"
"Ditka."

"If I may shift gears for a moment gentleman, coach Ditka vs. a hurricane, who would win?"
"Ditka, Ditka!!"
"Hold on, Hold on, Hold on. The name of the hurricane is Hurricane Ditka."

If Durant were still playing college ball and was in his fourth injury free season, he would be well past Maravich's Div. 1 points record and would probably be approaching Pierce's total of 4,230 points for a college basketball career.

He would be approaching the top 5 all time in rebounds, which is incredible considering no one since 1964 has made the top ten.

And he might be doomed to go play for New Jersey.

If grandma had wheels, she'd be bus. Honestly what is the point? Name me one single player in the Barnes era that hasn't left school at the very first chance. Texas has more kids leave for 2nd round draft slots than any D1 program. I submit Maurice Evans, Daniel Gibson, and PJ Tucker as evidence. But maybe Evans left to get passed over completely? Am I right in thinking Chris Owens jumped as a junior to play in Europe? In any case, only Chris Mihm returning after his sophomore constitutes a kid not bolting as soon as some NBA scout knows his name. Kids bolt from Barnes at the very first chance. Which means we will have huge roster turnover at this season's end. We are watching the last games of Avery Bradley and even Hamilton, as silly as that might seem. That's my guess anyway. Man, I love Austin, I'd have stayed much longer if I could have, but not our basketball players under Barnes, no siree.
