Does anybody know what I have "set" (or not set) that will allow the icons on the side to actually work.

The rolleyes does not rolleyes, the green and red jumping balls to don't jump.

Anyone know what I have to do to get these to work again?
I am sure I must have done something wrong.

Thanks for the tip but it is still not working.

Could it be something in my firewall?
I know minimal about computers unfortunately.

I am assuminig you're using IE...

1) Go to Tools--->Internet options
2) Select the Advanced tab
3) Scroll down to the multimedia section and see if the options like play animations and show pictures are enabled

What browser are you using? I know in Mozilla, you can have icons like that set to not play, only loop once, or play continuously.

I think, but am not sure, that you can have the same settings in Explorer...

96, I do have IE and checked what you said.
It still did not work.

Okay, it toolk me a while, but I think this is right....

Go to Tools, Internet Options, and select the Advanced tab.

Scroll down to Multimedia and check the "Play animations in web pages" box.

I think that's right, anyway.

Check.....was already done......this has me stumped.

Maybe I have too many of those boxes checked and one of them is offsetting the other?

Try going to another board that uses smilies -- just to visit, of course.

There are a couple of aggy sites, a sooner site and quite a few other non-sports boards that use these types of smilies.

For the real nerds on the board, could this be a java issue? are these smilies & animations java?

Linux, it bothers me because it has always worked and only recently not.

Since you seem to know about this, is there a way I can fix it or is "change browsers" the only way?

I had this problem once. It turned out my firewall (Zone Alarm) was the culprit. There is a setting somewhere in the options that will allow you to fix it.
