I want 4 more

Call me greedy, but before we call the 2011 class done, I want to add 4 more to the total.

Malcolm Brown - Goes without saying he has been from day 1 our top target and must get prospect.

Aaron Green - If Brown is #1, then Green is #1A

Austin Seferian-Jenkins - We haven't had a monster TE since 2005, but if we get him, that will all change. He has all the tools to be both a dominating blocker and a great receiver.

Quincy Russell - You can't ever have too many great DTs, and he has all the tools to be a great DT.

We land this group and we are going to be signing the best class ever at Texas.

If Brown AND Green come to TEXAS then the opportunity to get Jonathan Grey next year will be non -existent, as in no way Jose.

I say take the first one who commits and move onto next year.

We've seen that before. Then next year we still miss out. I say if you have the opportunity to land 2 elite backs, a power back and a jitterbug, take both and next year would just be an embarrassment of riches anyway. Is grey better than Brown? - who knows, but I'd hate to pull his offer and watch him go to bama and star. Besides, there appears to be 2 elite backs next year (Brenham?) that both like Texas. Hope you can land one of them to go with 2 this year. As far as I can tell, we haven't got a commitment from a true elite rb since Jamaal Charles or maybe even Benson. I sure wouldn't run one off....

Because of our depth at RB, history tells us that we get Brown or Green... Not both!

well, but if we've learned anything it's to not be surprised by our recruiting. if we suddenly took four punters it wouldn't shock me all that much.

I almost put C Jackson over Russell, but I chose Russell because he is elite, in most any other year, he would have been the top kid in state, but because we have a Desmond Jackson this year it pushes him down a bit. The way I see it, if we compared Desmond Jackson to Suh, Russell would be Gerald McCoy. They are that close.

The thing that put me over the top for Russell is that as of right now we have 3 guys that are going to be dominate at the Corner spot, Evans, Diggs, and Turner. What I would prefer is to duplcate that type of class next year instead of adding a fourth corner to this class.

Still if we did get a commitment from C Jackson over Russell, I wouldn't be disappointed.

i wouldn't be surprised if we take 6 more if the right guys want to come. that would imply a greyshirt and an early entry, possibly, but the quality of the guys we are talking about pretty much guarantees we'll take what we can.

so much goes into the decisions (needs, upcoming talent, expected attrition, and the like) that we mere mortals can only guess how it will shake out. it is just exciting to me for us to be having these discussions regarding which of these amazing young men might soon become longhorns to remember.

Agree with OP about everybody except Russell. I take Jackson over him for sure, because the only sure-fire CB prospects from this class are Scott and Turner. And Jackson fits Muschamp's "ideal" CB better than both of those guys (not saying they aren't better players or anything).

RE: Comment about Jonathan Gray, that's ludicrous. Dude is consensus top two in the state next year and automatic 5* prospect. No way he's scared of playing with two guys whom he fits perfectly with. Green's a slasher, Gray's a dasher, and Brown's a smasher!

With our future needs at corner, I would have no problem with Charles Jackson, in fact, I like Jackson as much as I like Turner.

I just see the potential of Russell as being much like Tubbs was for us a few years ago. He is an amazing athlete that has grown into a DT. Desmond is a much more polished DT, but don't be surprised to see Russell become the better of the two based on his upside. Remember the kids is ranked by LSR as the #10 best player in the state, and he is still learning the position.

I would like all 5 guys Wasatch listed, so.....

1 down - 4 to go!!!!

Since Mack doesn't give a second chance to most decommits, & since the coaches are better talent evaluators than all of us amateurs put together,
I'm thinking now that QR may be the most underrated prospect on this board.
He must be a true badass for Mack to let him reconsider, take his time, & then welcome him back with open arms. This bodes really well with me.

Quincy is a great prospect, and might be one of the top 5 players in this state. But he isn't even the best player on his team. That distinction goes to his teammate Javonte Magee a DE/LB who is in the class of 2012.

With all that said, Russell handled things the right way and because of it, he was given a second chance. Some posters gave him and his coach Gary Green a hard time because he decommitted, but both did the right thing and now we have ourselves one of the best in the nation

1 down 3 to go is right.

The next 3 are going to be really big time because of both their talent level but also our need at those positions.

I never once heard anything but postive words about our program from Russell. He always made it clear that he just wanted to shop a little more and he had been premature on pulling the trigger; not that UT had done anything to put him off. In these days of the multi-cap press conference, I have no problem with the way he conducted his business. I am proud to welcome him to the Longhorn family.
