i saw a motorcycle wreck last night

So last night I was taking my girlfriend back to her car after we went to dinner and a movie. This guy on a motorcycle and someone else in a Mustang went flying past us at about 70mph in a 40mph zone. We saw the guy on the motorcycle trying to cut the Mustang off many times. Well the motorcycle driver lost control, hit a curb, and flew into a lightpole. Lucky for him he hit grass instead of all the concrete around. So I stopped and blocked the lane of traffic right next to where he landed and called 911. The ambulance, firetruck, and cops all showed up a couple of minutes later. When they took him off to the hospital he was breathing but not very well. I was told that he'll be fine. The guy driving the Mustang got arrested for racing. I wish there was a law for these circumstances where the guy in the Mustang would have had to call the other guys family to explain to them why there son had gotten into such a bad wreck. But unfortunately there isn't. Some people are just idiots.

"your son got in a wreck because he thinks rice rockets are teh cool and should be raced through traffic. I should know because I'm a douche that races them in my mustang. by the way, you suck at parenting since you allowed him to buy a bike and enable this behaviour. Basically, we are what's wrong with America. The only thing worse is if you are the people who have a Harley and insist on showing off how bad the exhaust system is. Cars with mufflers this bad get tickets and fail inspections."

a motorcycle was trying to cut off a car? not a very smart rider if you ask me. the problem with riding a motorcycle is that there are so many dumbasses out there who also ride and think that we're all part of some "brotherhood."

fast and furious, gone in 60 seconds, frost tip hair and tricking up huyndai's are all bad things associated with this kind of stuff. i am sorry for these people that it happens, but they know the risk going in and if they don't then they are victims of darwinism.

The correct term is crotch rocket.

Years ago, I was filmed racing by a news agency.. it was a staged race... and they were doing an expo on a friend of mine.. the show was short lived (Frontline or something like that).

The scene changed alot in the 90s, it became too popular and turned into a car show were idiots in lowriders (who did not belong) would do a burnout or try to race eachother in front of the crowd at Checkers on Powerline Road (S. Florida).

Movies like Fast and Furious or Gone in 60 Sec. did not have really any impact. The low-rider crowd had already turned into the rice-burner 'winged wonder' group.. and they moved on to drifting and driving recklessly because they couldn't compete in a street race (on average).

Actually, I think that these idiot should be required to drive only bikes that explode in collisions, and should be required to wear no protective gear whatsoever. That way, when they inevitably crash, we have skimmed them right out of the gene pool.

i welcome street racing in all it's glories. i welcome idiots who feel invincible and drive/rid like maniacs. they are bettting against the odds, and the odds always wins.

what pisses me off is when innocent people get harmed in their idiot games. that's when they deserve to die a horrible death.

but if they only harm themselves or each other, i support darwin in his campaign.

The problem is that they do almost always get innocent folks mixed up in their stupid ****.

Then when someone gets killed there will invariably be footage of some moron in attendance saying "Well, if they would give us a place to race, this kinda stuff wouldn't have to happen."

Really?

Damn near every drag strip I've ever seen has a cheap night for locals to run...and who is they
, anyway?

*******.

So what it boils down to is these asswipes don't wanna pay a few bucks to go to the strip and race under that structure, and they
don't give
'em a place to race, so they just race wherever they ******* feel like it, endangering you, me, our kids, and everyone else.

Entitlement at it's finest.

About 20 years ago I had a motorcycle zoom past me going about 75 mph on a city street in the middle of the day. The guy had no helmet on.

About 5 minutes later I came up on where he had wrecked into a pole. His head was decapitated and landed perfectly sitting straight up in the middle of the road.

Absolutely the most horrible thing I have ever seen in my life.

There was a dude on Riverside hauling *** on his motorcycle. He whizzed by me in traffic as a car up ahead was turning into a business. If he was going the speed limit he would have had zero problems and tons of reaction time.

The car got held up as the car before him let somebody go by. So he was in the street still. Granted, there was still tons of reaction time. But the biker kept on hauling *** and laid on the brakes too late. His bike fishtailed and he lost control.

His bike was put on its side and it bounced around a bit. He did too, cutting up his legs real bad. This douche had a helmet on so he was not hurt badly. But he tosses the helmet on the cement and walks angrily to the car and lays into them.

I pull up and tell the driver I saw everything and if he needs a witness as to the reckless speed and maneuvering of the cyclist to stay put and I'd give a statement. At that point the cyclist walked away and began pushing the bike away. He knew the deal. He was being a fuckup and it caught up to him.

I don't ever feel sorry for cyclists who push the limits and test fate.

A friend of mine (who lives in the metroplex) was driving his car home from work one afternoon a couple of months ago. He was entering onto the highway (LBJ freeway I think) going he thinks about 60. In his rearview mirror he sees a motorcycle coming up at him way too fast. The guy on the motorcyle then proceeded to pass him going well over 100 mph.

So, he then thinks it will be a good idea to do a wheelie, stand up on his bike, and turn around to flick off my friend. Well, as he does this (going 100+) he gets a little too close to an 18-wheeler and gets sucked into it by the drag I guess. Guy is cut in half by the semi. My buddy stops and calls the cops, knowing the guy is obviously dead. Truck driver stops too and has a nervous breakdown, starts pulling his hair out of his head. Cops show up and ask my friend if he knew anything about the two people on the motorcyle.....they hadn't realized yet that it was just one guy who was cut in half. I think they later found out that he was high as a kite on Crystal Meth.

I ride and know a lot of people who do.

Most when asked "Was it your fault?” reply "Yes" to accidents. Bikes have an intoxicating affect, and the power and ease of accessing that power will make you do things you don't do normally.

Luckily, I've had some close calls (never laid it down) which taught me to respect the bike and stop being cocky.

To people who have never ridden a bike, you will not understand this. Cars move in slow motion compared to what I can do, and sometimes you just want to gun it.

Biker saying: There are old bikers; there are bold bikers, but there aren't any old, bold bikers.

my wife just lost her uncle to a motorcycle accident. he was a safe driver and wasn't one of those people who pushed the limits. rarely is an accident involving a motorcycle the bike rider's fault but they almost always end up dead. if people want to ride motorcycles, have at it as long as they understand the risk/reward.

Once I analyzed the vehicular death statistics for the state of Texas and with very few exceptions motorcycle riders over 35 who are killed are run off he road by another motorist. Cyclists under 30 crash doing something stupid or have an equipment failure, flats being the most common.

It was just a one year sample, but it matched my expectations and experience. I've had a motorcycle license for over 30 years.

Since most of my friends are in the under 30 crowd, I agree with RayDog. Most accidents are caused by driving too aggressive. You can blame the car all you want for pulling out in front of you, but if you're going 70 in a 40, that's what you get.
