I really like Targets Xmas ad campaign

They have at least 3 commercials where either the husband, boyfriend or father is ******* something up as far as gift-giving goes. Each time he gets busted and they play "Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire...".

Genius.

How many of you guys noticed the ploy?

The incompetent father, husband commercial is such a lazy theme and just bad business. I cannot imagine a man ever watching a commercial that portrays him as an idiot and then being compelled to purchase that product or service.

Target caters to women, but I didn't really see it as male-bashing as much as sneaking a good joke about testicles in anyway.

I don't think the idea is to get you to buy a particular product at Target. I think the idea is to make you laugh and associate the good feeling with Target. Don't see how that is "bad business"

I haven't seen the commercials. I was just commenting on the commercial theme in general.

My point about "bad business" is that portraying potential customers as idiots does not compel them to patronize your store.
