I'm not buying anything other than a card. I plan to spend the weekend doing whatever she wants ... taking her to dinner, maybe a nice lunch Saturday, brunch Sunday.

I'm not wasting effort on flowers or some other BS.

I've got 3 standing orders for a dozen burnt orange roses at the local florist every Valentine's Day. One for mrs. sunshine, one for my mom, one for hers. Besides mrs. sunshine being grateful for her flowers, I get brownie points for taking care of her mom too.

We have been together for 23+ years and married for 20+ years. I cannot think of a time where I did NOT buy her something for Valentine's Day. But that shouldn't obligate me to buy her something from here on out, should it? I mean, she's just my wife. No big deal.

Valentine's day was one of those days they trumped up just to get people to go out and buy stuff...I don't like it but if I don't get my wife something then yeah, I am in the dog house.

With kid's birthdays, anniversaries, Christmas, mother's/father's day, Easter, and I am sure I missing something...seems like I am always buying something for someone.

Every Valentine's Day I give the wife a card and a Stuffed Bear with the year on the paw, and then take her out to dinner. I give her flowers occasionally during the year, but I won't buy the overpriced bunches during February.....
