I need a new Washing Machine

Our old washer bit the dust today, after 3-4 years. It was a cheap GE.

I think I'm ready to invest in a good one. Should I get a front loader? Do they still have rebates for those?

If so or if not, what brand and model will last 10-15 years of lots of washing? (my wife uses towels one time and then they get washed.)

Thanks!

You definitely have to go with front load. LG is top of the line and are sweet machines. We have been wanting to get my mom a new set since her old machines crapped out on her but had held off because she wanted stainless steel finish. Lg finally came out with some for 5000 for the set

The regular color ones run about 3000 for the set Austin still offers a rebate not sure about other places

I ended up going through depew appliances, Austin's last locally owned sales and service place.

For our needs they recommended a Fisher and Paykel. Their top-loaders are efficient enough to qualify for city of Austin rebates.

3-4 years doesn't seem old, even for a cheapy washer. what went out on it?

my 3.5 year old kenmore just threw a piston that just needed to be re-attached. from world's ending sounds to smooth with just one snap in place part.

LG is the way to go for front loaders. They are direct drive instead of using a belt like the others. the direct drive has way fewer issues and is more reliable.

MGS - me too...i bought mine at best buy 8 years ago and it is still running and gunning...It's definitely not fancy but it works fine.

We just bought a new washer and dryer a few weeks ago, so I've gone through the research.

The Whirlpool Duet gets the highest ratings on Consumer Reports. We got a sweet deal at the Maytag Store, including $400 of rebates.
