I Need A Good Dentist

Does anyone have any recommendations for a good dentist here in Austin? I haven't been in years (oops) and have no idea who to call. Got a dentist you love? Please tell me.

My wife's in dental sales so I know quite a few but we go to Dr. Benjamin Nemec. He keeps up on the latest technologies, it's a great atmosphere and he has TV glasses you can wear while they work. He's a TxEx as well. Email me and I'll get you more details.

Dr. Gary Wilcox on S Lamar. He's a good dentist, his staff is very friendly, and he doesn't have an office full of tv glasses and lasers, so that keeps the costs down.

Dr. William K. Thomson, DDS. He's in Westlake, off Bee Caves & Mopac. Nicest guy you'll ever meet, and his staff is top notch. I've been going there for 10 years. I now live in Cedar Park but I drive all the way down there twice a year for cleanings.

hey misha - whatever. don't know why you felt the need to take a swipe at the guy i recommended. he keeps up on the latest improvements and technologies which makes patient care less stressful, quicker and more efficient. i didn't know that was a bad thing. his staff is great as well. like i said, my wife's a dental sales rep and works with about 80 dentists in the greater austin area and i would readily recommend many others, he just happens to be the one i go to and i think they are great. of course, i have insurance so i just make my copay no matter where i go.

Dr. Michael Bell - sounds like he's in the same center as Art Vandelay's guy. have been going to him since i moved to Austin in 92 (altho I missed a few years while I was away at school)

Brink -- I wasn't taking a swipe.
The fact is some dentists have new-fangled tools and toys, and some dentists don't. It's a matter of what the customer wants, and I was presenting another option.

i am/was SO afraid of dentist but found a great one --Robert Roup of Roup dental.

he is in round rock on louis henna-341 7500

other than being a aggie, he's a super great guy and even better dentist. i have sent him a bunch of people.

even better he takes bets on aggy/longhorn games, he owes me a case as i type this...

he is the best....

he hasn't paid up his bet but i bet he expects that tooth bill to get cleared up quickly

Misha - Sorry. I thought that was a dig. People do have different opinions as to what they want and can afford. I just pay the insurance copay so I like the extras at the same cost to me.

I'll second Dr. Roup as I know he's a great dentist as well and has a very nice staff.

There are good dentists in all areas of town. Maybe I should've started asking what area of town you were in -

Go to Benjamin Nemec.....he'll at least talk football with you.

He's not my dentist, but I know him through my bro who is a dentist. Hence, all my dental work is taken care of free of charge!

. it's not all good though...because it's a constant reminder of what a **** up I was in school!

Tom Hutchison, Hutchison dental, on Shoal Creek near mopac. Only dentist that my mother can stand (severe gag reflex). I've had a pretty good amount of work done in my mouth (stupid childhood irresponsibilities) and he's never once made me feel ashamed or bad about it, and the care has always been top-notch. Super nice guy, devoted longhorn fan - he even has season tickets to the basketball games. And he's been around austin forever - knows everyone. Highly recommended.

Another vote for Dr. Nemec. Mrs. Macanudo and I are good friends with him and his wife. Plus he has good looking women working for in the office (including his wife.)

He attended UT and went to dental school at UT-San Antonio. And, yes, he knows a shitload about Texas Football. And Basketball.
