I need a good cheap 3 wood (metal)

I'd like to get a decent 3 wood ( like Taylor Made or Callaway) that won't cost me $200 or more. It doesn't matter if it's a couple of year's old.

Any suggestions on a decent one I could get for around $100 or less?

Snake Eyes 600T from Golfsmith. Head's about $50, get a Penley Graphite Light shaft for $20, grip $5, they'll charge you $25 I think to assemble if you don't do it yourself. Or the Golfsmith Hi-Cor, head's about $30.

I've got the Snake Eyes 600T, it's allsome.

I've heard that last year's Adams Redline model was very underrated. I haven't hit one but I've heard a couple of folks say they were very nice clubs that never caught one for some reason. I nearly bought one but opted for the Snake Eyes. You could probably get one for $50 or so on e-bay. This is the plain Redline, not the Redline RPM which is this year's model, I think.

I've been reading a lot of good stuff about Bang golf. They're a component maker that kinda specializes in drivers for long-drive competitions but they do fairway woods and even some irons. I've had my eye on a Bang-o-Matic driver and a Bang Mellow Yellow 5 wood for a while. Don't laugh at the name - this is really good stuff and it's a lot cheaper than Taylor Made.

SMT's another well known component maker

Golfsmith almost always has a ton of last year's Lynx stuff on sale.

you should be able to find a warbird for sub $50 at most golf shops or on ebay for even cheaper. imo, they are the best woods ever made. at least i hit them the best.

Go to Instant Replay on Burnet road. They will have a good selection of right handed used clubs.

Callaway Steelhead III. The drivers are nothing special but the fairway woods are fantastic.

I have the strong three (3+) and love it.

Thanks for the replies. I went ahead & got one yesterday at Golfsmith, because the 15% off coupon was going to expire.

I did try the Callaway Steelhead & Orlimar, but ended up deciding on the Taylor Made V Steel w/ graphite. I hope I didn't screw up, because I was already having some buyers regret on the way home, thinking I should have spent an extra $40 for the Callaway. I'm not sure how accurate those simulation things are, but I just seemed to hit the Taylor Made straighter than the Callaway according to that.

I was planning on getting a pre-owned club for under a $100, but the only one's I liked were a couple of Callaway's, that I felt were overpriced for used clubs. My wife convinced me to go ahead & spend a little more to get a brand new one.

If you were in the DFW area I would have suggested Lou's Golf Shop in Carrollton. They have great used clubs for very cheap.

In fact, for new or used, it's the best place in Dallas to go.

I got a used Callaway 3-wood there for 30 bucks.
