I narced on my neighborhood this morning

5 houses on my street alone, in addition to the HOA maintained common areas...auto sprinklers were at full blast, mal-aligned and busted heads gushing into the street, spraying sky high. A blatant disregard for stage 2 water rationing.

No excuses people. My yard looks like bloody [censored]. So does Lake Travis.

gotta nip that in the bud

Don't stop there. Make sure you narc on the commercial ventures around your area, too. And, the golf courses. I bet the longhorn course looks imaculate.

I called 311 about 2 weeks ago to report the shopping center out in front of Fry's on North MoPac.

Came up to the place @ 12:00 noon & sprinklers were going; no sign of anyone adjusting, testing, repairing or otherwise engaged in a temporary check of the system.

Went back by 1 hour later & the sprinklers were still going, so I called 311 again to let them know it was still going. I was able to give an address thanks to my GPS unit & I guess with a property like this, the city would have to find out who is in charge of the property management.

I don't remember the specifics, however the 'attendant' on 311 essentially said nothing would be done today but if they got X amount of additional calls, then 'maybe' someone would try to drive out there & see what the deal is.

house behind me has caused all sorts of problems since the owner tore down the original house and split the lot. neighborhood took him to court all the time back in 06-07. their sprinklers went off wednesday morning. i'm pretty sure everyone within a 2 block radius filed a complaint.

I'm not the narc'ing type, although my neighbors seem to be following the rules. However, the grass at the main entrance is blatantly being watered. The only problem is, if I rat on the HOA, who pays the fine? Me?

Why not just politely knock on your neighbors door and remind them of the restrictions and then call your HOA and report the sprinkler problem?

Put Ox blood in their water system and send a letter signed by "God" telling them their non-compliance angers you.

How about people go back to being 'neighborly' by politely knocking on neighbors' doors to talk to them instead of ratting them out to the city and bitching about them on a message board?

How about people go back to being 'neighborly' and not assume that the person next door is some "self-entitled douchebag", but possibly someone who doesn't know that his sprinkler is going off when it is not supposed to?

I water my lawn several times a week. I don't give a crap about water restrictions. I do what I want to do, when I want to do it.

If I'm "that neighbor", I wouldn't suggest that people be neighborly and knock on someone's door.

Just a shame that anyone who is watering at the wrong time is assumed to be a self-entitled shithead.

I guess my point is, you can't hold a whole neighborhood responsible for the behavior of a few, sick twisted individuals. For if you do, then shouldn't we blame the whole neighborhood association? And if the whole neighborhood association is guilty, then isn't this an indictment of our community in general? I put it to you, Ignatius - isn't this an indictment of our entire American society? Well, you can do whatever you want to us, but we're not going to sit here and listen to you badmouth the United States of America. Gentlemen!
