I love the 'Eaters

Scott Gorgen's changeup is heinously badass.

Last year in Omaha, with Ollie Linton at-bat in the bottom of the 10th, was the only time a player has delivered a walkoff hit with me standing up chanting the player's name.

AND...

They just got out of a bases loaded situation against LSU on a hidden ball trick. (It did look like the ump blew the call, though.)

RIP 'EM 'EATERS!

when will NCAA get with it and make them a #1 seed and quit effing with these poor #1s the Eaters keep spanking?

It's a shame the second baseman made his move towards the runner so quickly, had he waited for the guy to take a bigger lead, he would've been out no question.

The LSU fans are the biggest bunch of cry babies though. They've been getting their asses handed to them all day and they're whining about how this cost them the game blah blah blah.

11-2 read the scoreboard LSU.

And the first people they should be mad at is the runner and the LSU team/coaches. Had they been paying attention, they never would've put themselves in that situation in the first place. Yes it was a bad call.....your team was caught napping, the runner didn't know where the ball was and neither did anybody in the dugout.

The west rules baseball, this is why they stack the western teams in the same regionals and cheat us out of several teams being in the post-season every year, otherwise the CWS would have 6 or 7 western teams in Omaha every year. Arizona won last night and winning now although I expect Miami's bats to wake up. And Irvine needs to finish this one and win one more game. Nothing over yet.

The SEC getting 9 teams in the regionals is such a joke. 2/9 advance and they're now excusing the pitiful performance with "oh well only 2 teams were supposed to advance based on the seeding." If you look at it that way, then why did the SEC get 3/4 of their conference in regionals in the first place? If they're such a tough conference and have so many good teams that warrants 9 regional bids, then they should do better than just hold serve.

Oh well, the west will continue to get screwed, I'm sure UC Irvine will never get sent out of the region again haha.

horrible call

^^^ No, the announcers said had he been on the mound it would have been a balk, but where he was at the back of the mound was ok.

Btw, nice job selling the play by the Anteaters. I think the ref paid more attention to the players selling the play than the play itself. And yes, it was a horrible call.

When I was but a lad, a team once tried to pull the hidden ball trick on me, and the pitcher was standing astride the rubber but not on it.

I don't know how I'd learned that he couldn't toe the rubber without the ball, but I knew it and was staring at him the whole time. I didn't know the third baseman had the ball, but I wasn't moving. They had to give up.

The NCAA needs to get with the program and make these guys a #1 seed.

It was absolutely criminal that NU had to be paired with ORU and UCI this year, and I said that on this very board when the selections were announced. But then again, all the luck in the world probably couldn't have helped us by that point.

Bob, did you realize then that meant that someday you would be involved in very analytical things? Baseball is such a great teacher!

LSU lost the game and Gorgen was great, as I predicted on my blog.

As to the call, if you want the replay with the wide shot, the ump making the call HAD HIS BACK TO THE PLAY. Oh and by the way, the runner is safe by a mile. So you have an ump calling a safe player out on a play he didn't see.

The tying run was at the plate. Gorgen was out of gas (walked 3 straight batters) and had given up a run that inning already. LSU probably still loses, but it's a damned shame to have an ump completely blow it like that. If Texas had that happen to them, no one would be tossing around the word crybaby or fellating UCI.

And if you want to see a great baseball play, check out our CF
taking away a home run.. It was the number one play on Web Gems and Sportscenter. Amazing catch.

montag, i watched that catch last night while i was at the ranch on 6th.

sick, sick catch!

reminded me immediately of a lot of some catches by nick peoples in omaha. i could only find this video... 5:15 into the video is one of several catches he made at the right field wall... 5:30 into the video is an example of why they call him dirtbag. Texas Defense

Squeeze play to take a 3-2 lead today.

With runners on 1st and 2nd, a hit-and-run single, both runners score.

This is really fun to watch when they're not doing it to us.

I love this ******* team !!!

Most of our crew going to Omaha purchased UCI gear last year ... we will be sporting that next weekend for sure !!!

Would have been fun to party with the Cajuns though.

I told my Husker friend pre-regional to beware of the 1-seed Eaters of UC Irvine. If they make it out of Baton Rouge, I hope they take it all. Wish I could be in Omaha this year to pick up some Eater gear. Go Eaters!

That game was good stuff. Game 3 is going to be awesome. You 'Eater lovers shouldn't count out Irvine just yet. If there is any team right now that can win a Game 3 in hostile territory, it's UCI.

I can't wait to watch the game tomorrow...

You're right that tomorrow is going to be classic. I was really hoping for a great weekend to close Alex Box and it looks like we're going to get it.
I'm going to miss that old stadium. Some of my favorite memories from childhood happened there watching baseball with my dad.
